As an amateur boxer in the
1960s and ‘70s, Patrick McElligott
fought for retired middleweight
contender Carl Delberta of Oneonta,
NY; was featured in an article by
Boxing Illustrated’s Lee Kerr; and
was a student of Rubin "Hurricane"
Carter.
With his brothers, McElligott developed one of New
York’s best amateur teams, which
produced numerous Golden Gloves, Jr.
Olympics, and Southern Tier
champions, as well as working with
some professional boxers.
Today McElligott, a retired social work, writes about
politics, history, and boxing as a
hobby. His works have been published
in books, magazines, and journals.
