PHILADELPHIA (December 1, 2009)—In the season of giving, Philadelphia professional boxer, Simon “One Punch” Carr is looking to give back in a big way and help the less fortunate by dedicating time and services to those in need.

Carr, who has been very cognoscente in giving back to the community since his release from prison in 2006.

For the twelve days that precede Christmas, Carr will dedicate a minimum of eight hours per day doing a wide variety of activities such as participating in Toy, Clothes and Food drives, speak at schools, feed the needy, deliver coats and food, dress as Simon Claus and deliver toys to the youth as well as donate boxing equipment and teach youngsters how to box.

On the last day preceding Christmas Simon will host a fashion show that will feature his clothing line "Punchline" and entertainment. The show will be free for identified persons that are less fortunate and any of the proceeds will be donated to State Senator Kenyatta Johnson's "Peace not Guns" program.

The majority of the funds used to operate the 12 rounds of Christmas will be from Simon's own Pocket. Anyone wishing to donate time, money or items can contact Sporty Smith of Penntucky Sports. The full schedule of events will be released with the times on December 10, 2009.

“I am honored to represent an individual like Simon Carr. It takes a whole lot for someone that doesn’t have much himself to really go out and try to make others whom are less fortunate than him be in a more fortunate position”, said Sporty Smith of Penntucky Sports

Carr knows how important it is to give back to the community.

Carr has been “making good” in the community since his 2006 release from prison, where he served eight years for third degree murder.

Carr was trying to protect his family as he witnessed three people enter his yard and fatally wounded a thirteen year-old. He was charged with manslaughter and exonerated. Carr was found innocent but was re-tried a year later and convicted of third-degree homicide.

While in Prison, Carr spent many hours thinking about how to give back and he has done just so and this is just another of the long line of activities that Carr has shown how important to give back especially in this season of giving.

In 2007-2008, Carr participated in the Exhoodus Tour with Bill Cosby.

This was a tour of ex-offender and spoke to the community about stopping the violence.

Simon Carr’s twelve days of Christmas is being sponsored by Punchline Clothing and Penntucky Sports
