Jara eager to enter PFC ring
Posted on | May 29, 2008 | No Comments
LEMOORE, Ca. — There is a reason why Jaime Jara opted to compete in the Palace Fighting Championship.
The North Highland’s mixed martial artist says he wants to fight good middleweights.
“That’s what we have in the PFC… we’ve got some tough middleweights,” PFC President Christian Printup said. “Jara is right there at the top of the list with our champion Nate Loughran, Kenny Ento, Phil Collins and Justin Levens is still under contract with us and we’re on the verge of signing a veteran Brazilian middleweight who will definitely add more depth to the division.”
Jara (18-5) will make his highly anticipated PFC debut on Friday July 18 at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino at PFC 9. He is scheduled to face Orange County’s Marcus Gaines (4-4).
“There are some good fighters in the PFC and if I’m fighting good fighters, then that’s going to make a good fight for the fans,” said Jara, who is the current Pure Combat Middleweight champ and former Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight, Middleweight and Welterweight champion.
“My goals in the PFC are to get the hardware,” Jara added. “I want the strap.”
Jara is expected to challenge Santa Rosa’s Loughran (8-0) for the title if Loughran makes it past Merced’s Collins (6-3) in a PFC event in September at the Palace in Lemoore.
“Our middleweight division is very, very strong,” Printup added. “I think it’s going to keep getting stronger, too. We are very excited to have Jara now. I honestly believe that he is one of the toughest 185-pound fighters in the country. I think that he could compete with anyone and be competitive and we are very excited to have him under an exclusive contract.”
Jara recently captured the Pure Combat title by defeating Lodi’s Steve Heath (9-5) on May 9.
“I don’t know anything about my next opponent and it doesn’t matter” Jara said. “I see the fight playing out violently.”
Jara, who graduated from Rio Linda High in 1987, was a runner up at the California State wrestling tournament. He is widely respected as one of the toughest middleweights in the state.
“I think that Jara will be one of the more colorful fighters that we have,” Printup said. “He’s never had a boring fight and I think that he will be an instant fan favorite here in the Valley.”
Two PFC World titles will be on the line at PFC 9, as Brazil’s Jorge Oliveira (3-2-1) defends his light heavyweight title against Arroyo Grande’s Glover Teixeira (6-2).
The Oliveira and Teixeira bout will be a rematch from when Teixeira made PFC history and knocked out Oliveira with one punch in just 5 seconds at PFC 6 in January.
“I think this time it will be a much different fight,” Printup said. “Either way, whoever wins, we are going to have one of the top 205 pounders in the world wearing our belt.”
Also, Bakersfield’s Bryan Travers (10-1) takes on Porterville’s Morris Aldaco (6-0) for the vacant PFC World Welterweight crown.
Tickets will go on sale Saturday June 7 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at tickets.com or charge by phone at 1-800-225-2277. Tickets can also be purchased at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino Gift Shop.
Weighins will be held on Thursday, July 17 at 4 p.m. at the Den Sports Bar located on the third floor of the Palace. Fans are encouraged to attend.
On Friday doors open at 5:30 p.m. and fights start at 6:30. The fights will be held out doors for the first time in PFC history.
In other bouts:
—Indiana heavyweight Jake O’Brien (10-1) vs. Sacramento’s Jeromy Freitag (6-6).
—Fresno featherweight Casey Olson (7-2) vs. Sacramento’s Tito Jones (4-1).
—Los Angeles light heavyweight Ricardo Barros (2-1) vs. TBA.
—Lemoore welterweight Mickey Martinez (5-1-1) vs. Bakersfield’s Jack Morrison (0-2).
—Hanford lightweight Jeremy Luchau (1-0) vs. Bakersfield’s Juan Lopez (1-3).
—Lightweight Dominique Robinson (2-2) vs. Bakersfield’s Chuck Kim (6-6).
—Las Vegas flyweight Ulysses Gomez (1-0) vs. Rancho Cordova’s Andrew Martinez (0-1).
—Visalia lightweight Darren Crisp (4-2) vs. TBA.
—Lemoore welterweight Paul Gonzales (1-0) vs. TBA.

RAP ICON BUSTA RHYMES BRINGS HIP HOP FLAVOR TO PRUDENTIAL CENTER IN NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, FOR MMA’S BIGGEST NIGHT THIS SATURDAY, MAY 31
Posted on | May 28, 2008 | No Comments
Hip Hop Star Supports Upcoming Release, “Blessed,” With Ring-Walk Performance
At “CBS ELITEXC SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS,” MMA’s First Primetime Network Television Event
LOS ANGELES (May 28, 2008) – Multi-platinum rap music star Busta Rhymes will bring his unique brand of hip-hip to the Prudential Center on May 31st at MMA’s (Mixed Martial Arts) first primetime television event on the CBS Television Network.
Performing the track “Don’t Touch Me (Throw Some Water On ‘Em)” from his upcoming Interscope Records release “Blessed,” Rhymes will set the stage for up-and-coming MMA heavyweight contender Brett Rogers’ bout against John Murphy at the milestone event, “CBS ELITEXC SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS (9:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT).”
“I’m a huge fan of the excitement and intensity of Mixed Martial Arts, and it’s a thrill for me to be a part of the most important event in this sport’s young history,” said Rhymes. “My high-energy performances are a perfect match to get the fighters in the perfect mindset for total domination inside the EliteXC cage on May 31st.”
With a stacked fight card highlighted by the highly anticipated primetime television debut of rising MMA star and legendary street-fighting YouTube sensation Kimbo Slice, along with a list of some of MMA’s most respected fighters, including Robbie Lawler, Scott Smith, Phil Baroni, Joey Villasenor and “Crush” from American Gladiators, Gina Carano, the May 31 event is poised to take MMA to new level of mainstream prominence with this inaugural primetime television event.
“Busta’s performance brings an entirely different element of excitement and entertainment, to what is already going to be one of the most electrifying nights in MMA history,” said EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw. “What better way to kick off this live telecast than the raw intensity of Busta Rhymes setting the tone for the bout between Rogers and Murphy, and for the entire evening.”
Rhymes’ upcoming release, “Blessed” is due out on July 31st and promises to be his strongest release to date. His music career began in the 1990s as a member of the rap group Leaders of the New School. In 1996 he released a solo album, The Coming, featuring the hit single “Woo-Ha! (Got You All in Check).” The album and single both went platinum, as did his second release, When Disaster Strikes. Known for his innovative videos on MTV, Rhymes has teamed with Janet Jackson and also appeared in movies, including Finding Forrester (2000, starring Sean Connery). His other recordings include Extinction Level Event — The Final World Front (1998), Anarchy (2000), It Ain’t Safe No More (2002) and Big Bang (2006). He’s also collaborated with Missy Elliott and Mary J. Blige on the 2006 single “Touch It” and with Mariah Carey on the 2007 hit “I Know What You Want.”
In addition to the heavyweight bout between Rogers and Murphy that Rhymes performance precedes, the five-fight CBS broadcast will include: Miami native and street-fighting legend Slice (2-0) taking on MMA veteran British heavyweight James “Colossus” Thompson (10-8), EliteXC middleweight champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler (15-4) of St. Louis, by way of Davenport, Iowa, vs. Scott “Hands of Steel” Smith (13-4) of Sacramento, Calif.; Gina Carano (5-0) of Las Vegas, Nev., vs. Kaitlin Young (4-1) of Circle Pines, Minn., at 140 pounds; and MMA fan favorite Phil Baroni (10-9) of Long Island, N.Y., vs. Joey Villasenor (25-6) of Albuquerque, N.M., at 185 pounds.
The Lawler-Smith fight is scheduled for five, 5-minute rounds. The others are slated for three, 5-minute sessions with the exception of Carano-Young, which is set for three, 3-minute rounds.
“CBS ELITEXC SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS” will be produced by SHOWTIME Sports. The executive producer is David Dinkins, Jr. with Bob Dunphy directing.
Other bouts streamed live at ProElite.com: Chris “The Story” Liguori (7-7) of Middleton, N.J., vs. Jim Bova (3-0) of Philadelphia at 160 pounds; Nick “The Mad Monkey” Serra (4-2) of East Meadow, N.Y., vs. Matt Makowski (2-0) of Philadelphia at 170 pounds; Justin Robbins (8-3-1) of St. Louis vs. Wilson Reis (3-0) of Philadelphia at 140 pounds; and James “Binky” Jones (6-6) of Baltimore, Md., vs. Calvin Kattar of New Hampshire at 155 pounds.
In preliminary bouts that will not be streamed at ProElite.com, Zach Makovsky (3-1) of Philadelphia meets Brazilian Andre “Gigetto” Soares (5-1) of Pinebrook, N.J., at 135 pounds; and Mike Groves (0-1) of Philadelphia faces Joe Sampieri (0-2) of Manhattan, N.Y., at 155. The seven undercard fights are scheduled for three, 5-minute rounds.

THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER WEEK 9 – QUARTER-FINALS
Posted on | May 28, 2008 | No Comments
May 28, 2008
by: Jack Bratcher
[mpinpage]
FIGHT 1 OF THE QUARTERFINALS: Jesse Taylor vs. Dante Rivera. They showed Jesse Taylor prior to his fight sweating off some pounds and pissing his pants. Yes that’s right…pissing his pants. He was sitting in the hot tub and I guess better than peeing in the hot tub, he got out, stood on the side of the pool and peed on himself, let it drip down his shorts’ leg then got back in the hot tub. You just never know what hijinx to expect from fighters….you just never know. So here goes the fight:
Round 1 – They immediately clinch and go to the ground with Jesse on top throwing punches and disrupting Dante’s breathing. Jesse throwing little rabbit punches followed by bombs and elbows but not connecting too much and Dante is doing a good job of defending against damage by holding Jesse’s hands and grabbing his head and body. Yet, Jesse continues his assault now in Dante’s full gaurd. Dante seems satisfied to fight from his back the entire round, making no effort to improve his position although he does try for a triangle submission near the end of the round but doesn’t come close to getting it.
Round 2 – Touch gloves. Jesse gets a takedown and it’s instant deja vu of round one with Jesse right back in Dante’s gaurd. Dante really needs to try and get out of this and Rampage at that very moment tells him to push him away and stand up because he’s not doing anything off his back. Just as I typed that Rampage uttered those words. Thankfully the ref stands them up. And Jesse immediately takes it right back down like they never left. Jesse lands a good couple of big punches to the face but still in Dante’s gaurd. Dante is making no attempt to get up and is feebly seeking anything but pure defense. And when Dante does make a scramble attempt he eats multiple shots. Forrest tells Jesse just to hold him down that he’s doing fine. Jesse definitely has control and is scoring all the points. Pretty decent ground and pound by Jesse. Unanimous decision by Jesse Taylor. Dana said after the fight that Jesse “didn’t look like a world beater” even though he won.
I would love to see the FightMetric stats for that fight because honestly it may be the first fight I can remember where one opponent did not attempt nor land a single shot. Seriously, I cannot remember a single strike of any kind by Dante. From his back he was purely defensive and threw no elbows, no strikes, and no submissions. He moved his hips a few times like he may try for a submission but never actually went for it. How can you be a fighter if you don’t fight? I rarely will criticize a fighter because I have so much respect for what they do but I’m really just at a loss for words by what I just saw from Dante Rivera. I really don’t understand it. The only thing I can think of is that he was just so incredibly overwhelmed and mismatched that he had no hope. It’s not often you see such a completely one-sided performance that goes the distance.
FIGHT 2 OF THE QUARTERFINALS: Matt Brown vs. Amir Sadollah. Matt Brown has been my pick to win the whole show since the beginning. I like him and I like his style better than anyone else on the show. Alot of people like C.B. Dalloway and while I think C.B. is very good I just feel more attuned to Matt Brown’s personality and style. Matt has that mean edge that can be a deciding factor in many fights. He has that aura about him that says, “you do not want to fuck with me.” And I can relate to and appreciate that. We really got to see this side of Matt when Jeremy May put lime juice in Matt’s dip and it pissed Matt off. Matt told Jeremy he would be sorry for it and Matt backed up his words and made him pay for it in the cage by beating the shit out of him violently.
Round 1 – They exhchange kicks. Matt strikes with multiple punches. Amir throws some kicks. They clinch. Amir has one underhook and Matt has the plum. Matt has a body lock looking for a takedown. Elbow by Amir. Matt still looking for takedown but lets it go moves back and starts striking. Nice high kicks by Amir. Butt Brown fires back aggressively. Matt clinches up again looking for a takedown but lets go and backs up. Matt lands a two nice shots to the head. Nice leg kick by Amir that trips up Matt just a little. Both guys are exchanging. They clinch up again, both have the muay thai plum. Matt gets a takedown but Amir gets back up quickly. They clinched up and the bell rings. That was a really active and very good first round. We saw some pretty good and fairly technical striking with both guys going for it and keeping it going back and forth for the entire round. Good stuff. I may give that round to Matt just by and edge but it was close and I may be biased but they both did good. I think Matt did a little better though.
Round 2 – Matt comes out throws a ton of strikes landing big. Amir throws a flying kick that misses then lands a powerful strike that stuns Matt. They clinch. Amir lands a good hich kick. Amir gets a takedown and is in Matt’s full gaurd. Amir stands up then mounts. Matt gets back to butterfly gaurd and is trying to get up. Amir gets full mount. Amir lands and elbow and punch to the body. Matt pushes Amir back tries to get up but Amir mounts again and is landing some small rabbit punches. Elbows by Amir. Damn Amir is a real gamer. I had no idea he was this tough and aggressive. Only one minute and twenty seconds left. Matt rolls out oh my god Matt gets on top and Amir gets him in a triangle and makes him tap. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. That was a great fight. Dana was very excited as he watched the fight. Matt is going to go on and be fine. He’s a great fighter and if he can get with a good camp and keep at it I think he will do very well in the UFC.
Amir after the fight said Matt is his friend and he thinks they are very evenly matched and he just happen to win that day. Matt said he did his best so he felt good about it even though he lost. I have to agree. I was very impressed with both of these guys and I’m glad to see they are good friends and this fight won’t affect that friendship in a negative way. For some reason I just became a fan of Matt Brown over the course of the show and was really rooting for him to win the whole thing. Now that he is eliminated, I will have to go with what everyone else is saying; it looks like C.B. Dollaway will most likely be the next Ultimate Fighter.

Alicia “Slick” Ashley: Dancing’s loss, boxing’s gain
Posted on | May 28, 2008 | No Comments
FSN Best Damn Championship Fight Night Period Card June 12 at Mohegan Sun
HENDERSON, Nevada (May 28, 2008) – If not for a knee injury, three-time world champion boxer Alicia “Slick” Ashley would probably be a pro on “Dancing With The Stars” instead of in the ring.
Ashley (14-7-1, 1 KO), fighting out of Westbury (NY) challenges IFBA World junior featherweight champion Lisa
“Bad News” Brown (14-3-3, 4 KOs) on Thursday evening, June 12 in the 10-round main event on Fox Sports Net’s Best Damn Championship Fight Night Period card at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Best Damn Championship Fight Night Period, presented by Cappiello Boxing in association with Hollybrook Regency, Inc., also features Russian invader Anastasia Toktaulova (12-8, 2 KOs) challenging IFBA World flyweight champion Elena “Baby Doll” Reid (19-4-5, 5 KOs) in the 10-round co-feature.
Ashley moved to New York City from her native Jamaica with her family at the age of 11, fully intending to follow in the footsteps of her professional dancing father. A dance student since the age of six, she received scholarships to the renowned Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham schools. Her brother, Maurice, is the first and only black International Chess Grandmaster, and her other brother and head trainer, Devon, is 4-time World champion kick-boxer.
A devastating knee injury, however, prematurely ended Alicia’s dance career and could have destroyed her athletic ambitions as well. So, she got into karate to fill the void, excelled at it, and soon realized that she needed to develop boxing skills to successfully compete in kick-boxing, in which, she was 10-0-1 before switching to boxing in the mid-nineties.
“I started dancing when I was six with a goal to become a professional dancer,” the stylish southpaw said. “At 20, I partially tore the meniscus in my right knee and couldn’t dance anymore. I didn’t have surgery but took time off to go to college and get my degree in computer science. I’d always been in the spotlight and wanted to stay there. I started weight training and got into kickboxing. I kick-boxed against a boxer. I could drive my legs, but I didn’t move my head or punch. I freaked out and had to keep on the outside. I had the flexibility and discipline from dancing you need, but I knew that I had to learn how to box. I didn’t like boxing at first because I didn’t think there was art to it. I thought boxing was like Tyson knocking people out, but I learned the intricacies of the sport. I wish that I could have gone further in dance. I’d love to be on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ as one of the professionals.”
Ashley challenges Trinidad and Tobago born Brown, who moved with her family in 1988 to a suburb of Toronto. Brown is a late bloomer not having boxed until she was 26, after she watched Christy Martin fight Dierdre Gogarty on a Mike Tyson PPV card, as well in addition to being encouraged by her husband and former pro boxer, Errol Brown, who still serves as her head trainer.
“Lisa is strong, that’s the main thing,” Alicia evaluated her opponent, Brown. “I’m so much faster and speed will beat power. I’ve been trying to get a fight likes this for a while and I definitely looking forward to fighting in the 10-round main event on Best Damn Championship Fight Night Period on national television. This is what I’ve wanted so everybody can see what type of fighter – slick, entertaining. I’m a boxer, not a brawler, and I’m going to move and make you miss. That’s why a lot don’t want to fight me.”
On the undercard, Las Vegas undefeated star Melinda Cooper (18-0, 10 KOs) begins her comeback after nearly 18 months of inactivity against knockout artist Donna “Nature Girl” Biggers (19-7-1, 16 KOs), of Shelby, North Carolina, in a special 6-round junior featherweight bout.
In a pair of 6-rounders, junior featherweight contender Jeri Stizes (14-7-1, 6 KOs), of Springfield, Missouri, meets dangerous Ela “Bam Bam” Nunez (6-3, 2 KOs), fighting out of Jamestown, New York, while popular Jill Emery (8-2, 3 KOs) and experienced Cristy “Code Red” Nickel (7-6, 4 KOs) — both fighting out of New York City, college graduates and physical training instructors – square off in a middleweight bout.
Tickets are priced at $10.00, $25.00 and $40.00 and on sale at the Mohegan Sun box office or online at www.mohegansun.com.
Go to www.ifba.com for more information. The undercard will start a 7 PM/ET, followed by the first of three scheduled televised bouts beginning at 8 PM/ET.

Paschall set for brutal battle with Larry Marks Thursday night

Compliments of boxingalongthebeltway.blogspot.com
For Tickets call 410-766-7474
Undefeated Pasadena, MD super middleweight Mike “The Persecutor” Paschall will look to step up in competition when he faces veteran and former world title contender Larry “The Laser” Marks of New Castle, DE in the main event of a Ballroom Boxing card on Thursday, May 29 at Michael’s Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD.
Paschall (16-0-1, four KO’s) has scored TKO’s in his last two bouts, including an impressive fourth-round TKO over Bruce Rumbolz on April 3 in Glen Burnie. This will be Paschall’s fourth straight appearance on a Ballroom Boxing card. In his last five bouts (including the Marks bout), Paschall has faced opponents with a combined won-loss record of 76-48-6.
Marks (29-9-1, 16 KO’s) will be the most accomplished foe Paschall has faced in his young pro career. Marks made his name as a welterweight, rising to world title contention and challenging for the WBA Welterweight championship, losing a unanimous decision to Andrew “Six Heads” Lewis on April 28, 2001. Marks also lost a 12-round unanimous decision to future world champion Cory Spinks for the USBA welterweight title on August 17, 2001. Marks has a record of 2-1-1 as a super middleweight. In his last outing, Marks fought to an eight-round draw with Dhafir Smith on September 27 in Stanton, DE.
Both men have fought similar competition in the 168-pound class. Both men drew against Smith and hold victories over Ronald Boddie.
As of press time, the bout is scheduled for 10 rounds, the first time that Paschall has participated in a bout of that length. There is a possibility that the bout may end up being an eight-round contest.
In the six-round co-feature, undefeated York, PA super featherweight Carney “Beeper” Bowman will take on Edward Valdez of New York. Bowman (9-0, four KO’s) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision win over Cuauhtemoc Mendoza on April 3 in Glen Burnie. Valdez (3-5-2, two KO’s) is looking to break a two-bout losing streak, falling to two undefeated fighters – Antonio Espinosa and Matt Remillard in his last two bouts.
One interesting bout on this card will be the “rematch” of a heavyweight contest that never officially took place. Back on the January 31 Ballroom Boxing card, “The People’s Champion” Jonathan Felton of Stafford, VA and Askia Snyder of Baltimore were scheduled to meet in a four-round contest. However, words between the two boxers had been flying since the previous night’s weigh-in. The verbal jousting came to a head in the ring the next night when the two men started to brawl before the referee could signal for the opening bell. The bout was declared a no-contest and both men were fined and suspended. Felton (5-9, five KO’s) and Snyder (one no-contest) will meet again in a four-round contest.
In other bouts scheduled for the card, Brandywine, MD heavyweight Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell (2-0-1, one KO) makes his Ballroom Boxing debut as he faces Alexis Cruz Medina (0-3-1) of Science Hill, KY in a four-round matchup. Glen Burnie heavyweight Danny Kisner (1-0, one KO) returns to ring action as he takes on debuting Kevin Johnson of Baltimore. Baltimore junior middleweight Cecil McCalla makes his pro debut against “The Capitol Punisher” Spencer Harsley of DC (1-6-2). Also middleweight Shelly Seivert of Severna Park, MD (2-1, one KO) will make her Ballroom debut against an opponent to be named and undefeated Denver, CO junior welterweight Terrence Crawford (2-0, two KO’s) will also be on the card.

The “Dragon-style” of Lyoto Machida

There’s been so much talk about Lyoto Machida that I had to watch his fight with Tito Ortiz again today. Now I”ve seen it three times in its entireity. It seems there are two schools of thought on Machida and nothing in-between. On the one side we have the people who say he was running the entire fight and he’s a boring fighter. And the other viewpoint is that Lyoto Machida is an elusive fighter who doesn’t just stand straight in front of his opponent and is able to evade attacks. People are also saying that it’s just the casual fans who don’t appreciate what Machida does and it’s only the people who just care about brutality and not “the sport” who consider him boring. I won’t go that far. But I am definitely of the school of thought that supports Lyoto Machida and his style of fighting.
What I noticed about Lyoto is that he likes to avoid clinches much of the time. How many times have you seen a fight and you thought there was too much hugging, too much clinching? Chances are you will never have that problem with Machida and maybe that comes from his karate background. There’s so many styles of fighting that sometimes I think people forget that.
Lyoto reminds me of some of the great boxers who were very fast on their feet. Lyoto stays very light on his toes but at the same time seems extremely grounded. I would not even consider Lyoto a counter-striker. He is constantly using feints and fakes to keep you guessing. He comes from all angles…low right kick to high left kick, in and out, knees, punches and the whole time he is avoiding your strikes. He makes his opponents waste energy by throwing big punches and hitting nothing but air. You swing at him and he’s already gone… vanished like the ninja of old.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Tito thought he was in there with two or three different opponents at times, multiple Machidas coming from all angles like Mr. Smith in the Matrix. I don’t know how to convince anyone to appreciate what Machida does if you think he is boring. All I can say is that not everyone is going to fight with the style of a Wanderlei Silva. But Lyoto Machida gets the job done. He wins and he wins decisively. There was no question who won that fight. And when he attacks, he attacks hard and ferocious. He is by no means simply a passive fighter but I would say he has a perfect balance of the yin yang principle in his fighting. Instinctively, he knows when to be fluid and moving like water and then at the right time he attacks with the ferocity of fire. This makes his nickname, “The Dragon” a perfect nickname. If you study the meaning of the Dragon throughout mythology you will see that it is highly appropriate as a moniker for Lyoto Machida.
To compare Lyoto’s style to the way Kalib Starnes fought in his last fight is ludicrous. It’s not even remotely the same. To say that Lyoto just fought “not to lose” is not a correct analysis either. Statements like those totally overlook what is really going on. If you notice he is just as aggressive and forceful when he attacks as he is elusive and flowing when moving. That is the perfect balance I was talking about. It’s a style many may not be used to but I’m confident that in time there will be many many new fans of Lyoto Machida.
