Angel McKenzie To Face Anne Sophie Mathis In France On Dec 4th

Posted on | December 2, 2010 | No Comments

Angel McKenzie is set for the sternest tests of her career to date. The entertaining former Big Brother star, who earlier today left her London home to travel to Dombasle-sur-Meurthe in France, is set to face female boxing’s number one pound for pound fighter Anne Sophie Mathis this coming Saturday.

The task ahead for the Brixton based show-woman is a formidable one, as Anne Sophie‘s excellent record reads; twenty one fights with twenty wins – seventeen of those wins by way of knockout – and just the one loss, which was on her second professional fight where she challenged Holland’s Marischa Sjauw for the European Super Welterweight title in 2005.

During her five year career Anne Sophie has won not only the European title, on her second attempt, but also the WIBF, WBC & WBA Women’s World Light Welterweight titles.

If that’s not enough for the colourful Russian born Angel to try and overcome the fight has been made at Welterweight (10st 7lbs), over a stone above her normal fight weight of 9st 4lbs (Super Featherweight).

Yet Angel seems to be relishing the opportunity. “I am really looking forward to fighting her,” Angel excitedly said, “she is like the Floyd Mayweather of female boxing. I am like Rocky, no, I will take any fight and will always try to win.

I got the call at short notice but no problem, I have been training for another fight that didn’t happen and I have been sparring my friend Marianne (Marston) a lot. I am ready to fight and looking forward to Saturday.”

Angel McKenzie versus Anne Sophie Mathis headlines the fight night at Salle Roger Boileau in Dombasle-sur-Meurthe, Meurthe-et-Moselle, France on Saturday 4th December 2010.

The support card includes Angelo Viol versus Davids Cilingarjans in a six round Light Middleweight contest and Mhand Boukedim against Jevgenijs Fjodorovs in a six round Light Welterweight bout.
