Hermes Franca and Josh Neer Hit the Slopes in New MaxFightsDM Video

Two of the co-headliners in MaxfightsDM Ballroom Brawl IV hit the tubing slopes for a little friendly competition on New Years Day. Hermes France and Josh Neer raced downhill, each coming up with a single win, setting the stage for a rubber match. In other competition, Neer faces Matt Delanoit, and Franca takes on Eric Wisely this Friday at the Val Air Ballroom.

Attending fans will not go hungry, as MaxFightsDM, in cooperation with the Val Air Ballroom and PMI Management have announced Jethro’s BBQ will serve food at the venue for the first time. Jethro’s was just voted the best BBQ in Des Moines and a top 20 restaurant overall by readers of the Des Moines Register.

We return to the home based Brute Adidas studios for our first show of the new year. Yes, Happy New Year!
It was a crazy week with Cornell winning the scuffle and Iowa Winning the Midlands again. We’ll recap both events on this show and take a look forward at the National duals coming up on 8 and 9th

This week we will dedicate the program to the memory of 2 wrestlers taken down by cancer, former Sooner big man Steve Williams and our friend Cornell University’s Adam Frey.

This week on TDR-

Tom Minkel- Head Coach of Michigan State. The Michigan State wrestling team finished competition at the 47th annual Midlands Championships on Wednesday (Dec. 30). Redshirt sophomore David Cheza was the top Spartan finisher at this year’s Midlands Championships as the 149 pounder took home eighth place.

Jeff Murphy- (Kemin Wrestling Report) Jeff (Mr. President) was at the Midlands and has a very unique view of this grand old tournament. He’ll give us his take and review and his projections on looking forward to the National Duals.

Dan “The Beast” Severn- Former ASU AA and UFC Champion joins us to talk midwinter training and will fill us in on his life.

Scott Hinkel- Head Coach of Purdue- Purdue junior Luke Manuel captured third place at 174 pounds at the 47th Annual Midlands Wrestling Championships, hosted by Northwestern University at Welsh Ryan Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday. Manuel avenged his only loss of the tournament in the bronze medal match, defeating Colby Covington of Oregon State by decision, 5-3.

Bob Zany- Commedian and star of the Bob and Tom Show

A Fighters Chance- the newest, most progressive, and driven MMA charity in the sport has teamed up with our newest official sponsor Mixed Martial Arts Expos (http://philadelphia.mixedmartialartsexpo.com/) and will have a booth set up at their Philly expo on January 9 – 10. We will have two celebrities at our booth – Brian Foster of the UFC and Matt Hughes’ HIT Squad and Jeremiah Riggs of TUF, Daisy of Love, and Matt Hughes’ HIT Squad. We will be taking donations for autographs and selling Wreckage gear. Come by and visit our booth you’ll be glad you did!!!!

The basis of the charity stems from the founder, Shane Lee, and his battle with Cerebral Palsy throughout his life and most importantly the huge role MMA played in his therapy and accomplishments. He literally improved his CP which was something he was told could not be done. Not only does he practice the sport he is a coach, freelance writer appearing in MMA Worldwide and TapouT magazines, MMA correspondent, and Coach. The AFC’s initial concept is to focus on assisting disabled children and teenagers but their growth plan is to provide MMA scholarships, summer camps, help for disabled MMA veteran’s, and Martial Arts Training for the underprivileged. We believe that everyone deserves a fighting chance but we can’t make these things happen without your help so the AFC is looking for people, companies, and organizations that wish to help sponsor this initiative. Please help give others “A Fighter’s Chance”!
