A TRIO OF FIGHTERS VISIT HDNET’S “INSIDE MMA”

WHAT: Tonight on INSIDE MMA, Kenny and Bas are joined by WEC Featherweight Champion Mike Brown, UFC heavyweight Antoni Hardonk and Affliction featherweight Javier Vazquez. The panel will recap all of the action from last week’s historic UFC 100 card. Mike Brown talks about life at the top of a very tough weight class. Hardonk tells Kenny and Bas about how he recently stopped a robbery in Los Angeles. Vazquez previews his upcoming fight with L.C. Davis, a fight you can see live on HDNet as part of our Affliction: Trilogy Opening Bouts broadcast. Manuel Quezada Triumphs in Spectacular Fashion With 1st Round KO at Tachi Palace Casino in Lemoore, CA July 16, 2009

Securing his WBC CABOFE title and streaking up the heavyweight rankings, Manuel “El Toro” Quezada (28-4, 18 KO’s) triumphed in spectacular fashion with a one-punch KO over Travis “Freight Train” Walker (31-3-1, 25 KO’s).
When the opening bell rang, both fighters felt each other out, with Walker trying to land the big blow as Quezada came forward. As the round continued, Quezada landed a vicious left hook to the body, which hurt Walker, forcing him to guard low. Quezada proceeded to work his way inside and took advantage of Walker’s open holes up top. With 3 seconds left in the round, Quezada landed an amazing one-two combo that floored Walker, ending the bout instantly at the 2:57 mark.
The hometown crowd of Quezada rose to their feet in jubilee, as their fighter was crowned the victor.
With the victory, Quezada’s extends his winning streak, making it 17 in a row. The opportunity to land a big fight with one of the top heavyweights in the world is now in place.
“To get the knockout they way I did was an incredible feeling,” said Quezada. “I was nervous coming into this fight as I knew Walker was a big puncher, but once I heard the crowd cheering me on as I walked into the ring, everything changed. I just felt a confidence that I never felt. Joe Goossen had me working on a body attack and it worked. Those shots to the body opened up the head shot. I took advantage, landed that right hand, and bam it was over. I thank God for this victory.”

Undercard Results
In the opening minuets of a 6 round Jr. Welterweight bout, undefeated standout Mike Dallas Jr. (9-0, 2 KO’s) came out guns blazing dropping Francisco Rios (10-10, 6 KO’s) twice before referee Marcos Rosales stopped the action. The time was 2:41 of round one.
Using her jab to perfection, former WBC lightweight champion Jessica “Ragin” Rakcozy (31-3, 11 KO’s) cruised to a TKO victory, with a third round stoppage over Jessica Mohs (7-21-2, 2 KO’s). Rakcozy’s one-two combo was lethal as Mohs corner through in the town at the 1:13 mark.
Keeping his undefeated streak alive, featherweight sensation Rico Ramos (11-0, 7 KO’s) used his lightning fast hand speed to score a one-sided TKO over Juan Jose Beltran (19-14-3, 11 KO’s). Beltran’s corner stopped the fight after the forth round.
Jr. Welterweight Hector Alatorre (16-8, 5 KO’s) applied pressure and used his superior boxing skills to outwork journeyman Christian Favela (17-20-6, 10 KO’s) over 6 rounds, in route to a unanimous decision. Scorecards read 59-55 and 58-56 twice.
In a 4 round Jr. Middleweight bout that featured back and forth action, Adrian Tait improved his record to (4-1-1, 2 KO’s) with a unanimous decision over Joshua Zurfluh (1-6-1). Scorecards read 40-36 across the board.

BRIAN “THE BIONIC BULL” COHEN TO HEADLINE ON AUGUST 14TH IN SALEM, NEW JERSEY

SALEM, NEW JERSEY (July 15, 2009)—On Friday night, August 14th, Dungeon Warrior Promotions in association with Bionic Bull Promotions to present a big night of boxing that will take place at the John B. Campbell Family & Fitness Center in Salem, New Jersey.
In the featured bout, Brian “The Bionic Bull” Cohen will see action in an eight round Light Heavyweight bout as he will defend his WBC Continental America’s title.
Cohen of Philadelphia brings in a record of 10-2 with nine knockouts and is coming off hit title winning victory as he took out Robbie Tovar in one round on May 9th in South Philadelphia.
Cohen has been a bit of a traveler as he has fought in Atlantic City; Lafayette, Indiana; Tower, Minnesota; Oklahoma City and Kokomo, Indiana.
Cohen’s formidable opponent will be announced shortly.
Also seeing action will be rising Lightweight, “Hammering” Hank Lundy.
Lundy of Philadelphia has been one of the fastest up and a comer’s in the country as he has already taken on five undefeated fighters and has a record of 13-0-1 with seven knockouts.
Lundy will be coming in off a very impressive stoppage over then 10-0 Jason Cintron on April 24th in Newark, New Jersey.
Lundy dominated the brother of former IBF Welterweight champion until the referee had to stop the fight at in round five of the scheduled eight round affair.
Lundy’s opponent will be named shortly.
All-action Victor Vasquez will be in an action on August 14th in a six round Jr. Welterweight bout.
Vasquez always pleases his throngs of fans and his come forward style usually has him in the fight of the night whenever he is in action.
Vasquez, 9-3 with five knockouts is coming off a six round unanimous decision over Linwood Hurd at The Legendary Blue Horizon in his hometown of Philadelphia.
Coy Evans, 4-0-1 of Philadelphia will battle the durable Darrell Martin in a Jr. Lightweight fight.
Evans and Martin were supposed to fight on July 10th but that fight has now been pushed back to August 14th.
Evans is coming off a four round unanimous decision over Jose Espinal (5-3-1) on February 3rd in Brooklyn, NY.
Martin of Baltimore has a record of 4-9 with one knockout. To say Martin has been matched tough is an understatement as the combined record of his fourteen opponents is 52-7-6 and Evans will be the fourth consecutive undefeated fighter that Martin will have faced.
The highlight of Martin’s career was his stunning third round stoppage over Jules Blackwell (8-1-2) on December 5th 2008.
Martin is coming off six round unanimous decision loss to Joselito Collado (7-0) on May 15th at The Legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia.
Elizabeth Sherman of Philadelphia will risk her 1-0 (1 KO) record in a ladies four round Lightweight bout against an opponent to be named
Twenty-Year old Lightweight, Lonnie Jackson Jr. (1-0) of Philadelphia will see action in a four round Lightweight tussle.
Cruiserweight, Dan Grafton will make his pro debut in a four round bout. Troy Corbin will make his debut in a four round Welterweight bout.

WHAT: HDNet to broadcast “HDNet Fights Presents HEIWA DREAM 10 Welterweight Grand Prix 2009, Final Round,” Monday, July 20, 12:00 a.m. PT. The event airs LIVE from Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. HDNet will also air an encore presentation on Friday, July 24 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
The event features the conclusion of the Dream Welterweight Grand Prix as the legendary Hayato “Mach” Sakurai (35-8-2) meets Marius Zaromskis (9-2) and Andre Galvao (3-0) meets Jason High (7-1) in semi-final action with the winners advancing to face each other in the final later in the evening.
And, in what Sergio Non of USA Today calls “from a stylistic point of view, the most interesting fight of the summer,” Shinya Aoki, widely regarded as the number one lightweight in the world, faces Vitor “Shaolin” Riberio. And, the always exciting Melvin Manhoef (23-5-1) meets former WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho (16-1).

Amateur Boxing Show
DUMBO FIGHT NIGHT A BENEFIT FOR THE DUMBO IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
This amateur show is scheduled for Saturday, August 1st. The show will be at our new outdoor sight. The Archway under the Manhattan Bridge next to the new gym location. The show will include junior, senior and master boxers. The show is sanctioned by USABoxingMetro. If you wish to participate contact New York’s number one matchmaker Angela Querol at (718) 797 2872 or gleasons75@aol.com . The weigh in will start at 5:00PM and the first bout will begin at 7:00PM. The ticket price is: $25 per person for general admission and $50 per person for ringside seating. All amateur members with their license in hand and Gleason’s Gym members will get a $10 discount on general admission.

The 13th DUMBO Art Under The Bridge Festival sponsored by The DUMBO Arts Center will be held September 25 through 27, 2009. Over 100,000 visitors will come to DUMBO for this festival. You can be part of it. Gleason’s Gym closes for workouts on Saturday and Sunday and opens as an Art Gallery. For the past two years we had over 35 artists show their creations. All Medium of Art is welcome. We have had painters, photographers, sculptors, illustrators, authors, furniture makers and vocalists. The only requirement is that the art has something to do with boxing. Gleason’s Gym will pay all fees associated with the show and you keep 100% of what you sell.
