International MMA Competition to Premiere Friday, May 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET

WHAT: HDNet to premiere the second season of the M-1 Challenge-now with Affliction onboard-Friday, May 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET. HDNet will then air subsequent matches every Friday at 8:00 p.m.

Billed as the “World Cup of Mixed Martial Arts,” the M-1 Challenge is a full season of MMA events sponsored by partner Affliction that showcase some of the best up-and-coming MMA fighters in the world, and pits teams of five fighters representing their respective countries against each other for international bragging rights and the title of M-1 Challenge Champions.

The 2009 tournament is the second annual installment of this international MMA team competition. The challenge consists of sixteen teams from around the world, each comprised of five MMA fighters, one from each weight class.

Each nation vs. nation match-up will be a one-hour program and HDNet will air up to twenty-eight one-hour programs from the round robin competition.

WHEN: “HDNet Fights Presents: The M-1 Challenge Presented by Affliction” will air on HDNet on Friday, May 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Subsequent matches in the tournament will air every Friday on HDNet at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Memorial Weekend Boxing in PA!

Wilkes-Barre, PA—(May 11, 2009)—KEA Boxing Promotions has announced that they are set to make their sophomore appearance in Northeastern Pennsylvania this Memorial Day Weekend on May 23rd with its signature event “Memorial Weekend Boxing in The Woodlands.”

Just 6 weeks ago, KEA Boxing Promotions made its Pennsylvania debut and has decided to give local boxing fans more of what they were begging for: an action-packed show with local stars and rising prospects all at fair pricing and in a safe environment. The thrilling bouts of the April 11th show have set the stage for yet another exciting event.

Returning to the ring and headlining the card will be heavyweight prospect Jason Gavern (17-5-3, 8KO’s) of Scranton, PA as well as Anthony Cusumano (3-2-1) of Old Forge, PA. In addition to the local favorites, KEA Boxing will feature rising prospect Antonio “Tony the Tiger” Espinosa (10-0,1KO). Philadelphia’s Clinton Douglas (2-3-2) will also be featured on the card. The girls are set to tangle in the ring as April Richards is looking to score her first professional win after a tough decision in her Pro Debut. KEA Boxing has also secured a special guest appearance by former 2 time world champion Bobby Czyz.

World Championship Fighting Announces Four Featured Bouts For June 27th, 2009

Boston Mass. May 11, 2009 – World Championship Fighting today announced four featured fights for their June 27th show at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Mass. In a fight that will no doubt have title implications, lightweight Calvin Kattar from Premier Fight Team in Derry, NH makes his return to the WCF stage to take on undefeated Rodrigo Almeida. Calvin has been on fire as of late, winning 3 fights in a row, all in less than a minute. One of those 3 wins took place at WCF5, and was a 49 second submission win over Bobby Dias. Almeida has managed to keep his record unblemished at 4-0 in his young career and was impressive in his WCF4 victory over Jose Lopez. The winner of this fight will take one step closer to the WCF 155 pound title.

After an unsuccessful run at the 135 pound title which snapped his five fight winning streak, Dan Bonnell moves back to his more natural weight of 145, and looks to get back to his winning ways. He is one of only two fighters to compete on every WCF card, and has gone 5-1 in the WCF. His opponent will be WCF veteran Dan O’Keefe, who turned in one of the best come from behind performances in WCF history at WCF3, defeating Garth Krane by TKO with only 34 seconds left to go in the bout.

Also included on the WCF7 fight card is the return of fan favorite John Benoit. John looks to rebound from the only loss of his 8 fight career, when he takes on Damien Trites. John is currently 7-1 overall, and has appeared on all but 1 WCF card. Trites made his WCF debut at WCF6, and was dominant, winning by submission in just over a minute, bringing his record to 4-2. Both of these fighters have wanted this fight for quite some time now, and this one promises to be a crowd pleaser.

In another featured fight, 4-1 middleweight prospect Dan Keefe (not to be confused with 145 pound fighter Dan O’Keefe) makes his WCF debut when he takes on Ronnie Wuest. Dan has been impressive throughout his pro career, with all of his wins coming by TKO. His opponent, Ronnie Wuest is no stranger to the WCF, as he appeared on WCF1 and WCF2. He was impressive in his 1st round TKO win over top ten fighter Jesse Peterson, and his fight with Dan Keefe should be a war!

Carlos Ivan Velasquez Remains Undefeated

Photo by Ray Rodriguez (May 11, 2009) – The hard hitting and devastating punching power of highly touted featherweight prospect, Carlos Ivan Velasquez, was on display last Friday May 8, 2009 when the Golden Boy Promotions rising star extended his winless record to (10-0, 9 KO’s), flattening Andres Ledesma in the first round.

In the later half of the first round, Velasquez connected with a left hook to the body, then followed with an overhand right that dropped Ledesma. Still on shaky legs after getting up, Ledesma was hit with another crushing overhand right that put him down for good. The fight was stopped at the 2:59 mark and Velasquez was awarded a TKO victory.

“This was a good win for me,” said Velasquez. “I’m looking to get back in the ring as soon as possible. My goal is to get to 15-0 by the end of 2009. If I can accomplish this goal, I feel I’ll be ready to fight for a title in 2010.”

And again Lunigiana a very particular land that keeps intact the evidences of its feudal history and, at the same time, preserves an unspoilt nature, quite completely free from industrial pollution.

Genoa with the famous Acquario di Genova, Europe’s largest aquarium is one of Genoa’s biggest draws and a must-see for travelers with children. The structure alone is remarkable, resembling a ship and built alongside a pier in the old harbor.

And Turin with its great history and the world famous Egyptian Museum.

The Museo delle Antichità Egizie is the only museum other than the Cairo Museum that is dedicated solely to Egyptian art and culture.

Many international scholars, since the decipherer of Egyptian hieroglyphs Jean-François Champollion, who came to Turin in 1824, spend much time pouring over the collections.

It was Champollion who famously wrote, “The road to Memphis and Thebes passes through Turin”.

Competitions will start officially Thursday 5th November 2009 after the Opening Ceremony.

You might already know that, 2 day prior to the start of the event, Officials Seminars will be held to define the guidelines for refereeing.

The Opening Ceremony will be more beautiful than the last years.

ROF Fighters to make BELLATOR debut

Two fighters on the Ring Of Fire roster will be making their Bellator Fighting Championships debut on May 29th at the Montreal Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

ROF 135lb Champion, Noah Thomas, will face BJJ stylist Shane Rice. Rice is a Black Belt under the Rickson Gracie lineage and has a 4-3 MMA record.

ROF 185 lb top contender, Isidro “CHILO” Gonzalez will face Canadian MMA fighter Nick Ring. Ring is a veteran fighter who has competed professionally in Muay Thai, Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts. He was also one of the few finalists in the PRIDE open tryouts.

The event will be broadcast on ESPN Desportes on Saturday, May 30th.
