“The UFC Can’t Hide the Truth” Zuffa/UFC Censors Holiday Cage Fighting Video

Posted on | December 16, 2011 | No Comments

Las Vegas (Dec. 16, 2011)  —  “A Cage Fighting Christmas,” a video depicting actual scenes of extreme violence during Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) cage fighting events, has been removed from YouTube.com after Zuffa LLC, the parent company of the UFC, submitted a copyright complaint to YouTube.

The Culinary Workers Union, Local 226. which represents 55,000 workers in the casino and hotel industries, produced the video to demonstrate why the UFC is unfit for children. The video shows two children playing with UFC action figures and other toys purchased from Toys “R” Us. The childrens’ play is interrupted by actual scenes of extreme violence and blood from UFC fights.

You can still watch the video, “A Cage Fighting Christmas,” hosted at other services. Go towww.UnfitForChildren.org

“Censorship never works,” said Sandy Eddy, a Las Vegas mother who has launched a petition urging Toys “R” Us to remove all UFC toys from its shelves. “The UFC can try to hide this video, but they can’t hide the truth. The UFC is unfit for children.”

If you want to see the blood, gore and violence that makes UFC unfit for children, go to the following videos:

The UFC has yet to demonstrate that it is willing to ensure its fighters behave in a socially responsible way, even as the company markets its fights and fighters to children.

This month, a UFC fighter taunted his opponent by threatening to act like accused child molester Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State assistant football coach facing 40 counts of molesting children. UFC fighter Rashad Evans said in a public press conference, “Cause I’m gonna put those hands on you worse than that dude did them other kids at Penn State.” (See: http://tiny.cc/9ozdq)

And in November, UFC light heavyweight fighter Forrest Griffin joked about rape on Twitter. “Rape is the new missionary,” Griffin tweeted. See: (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/09/forrest-griffin-rape-jokes-twitter_n_1084471.html)

A number of concerned parents, LGBT groups and union members have called on Zuffa and the UFC to adopt an ethical code of conduct. The UFC has not agreed to this demand. These community members are also holding corporations, such as Toys “R” Us and Anheuser-Busch, accountable for sponsoring the UFC. (See:http://www.towleroad.com/2011/10/ufc.html)

You can sign the petition urging Toys “R” Us to remove UFC toys from its shelves here: http://chn.ge/tTD3ZW

“Part of a parent’s job is to attempt to teach our children to value and respect the dignity of every human being,” Eddy wrote in her petition to Toys “R” Us. “It is also necessary to struggle to keep children safe. We do not need toys that glorify famous athletes or entertainers who choose to promote hatred, intolerance and violence with their words.”

AGGRESSION MMA READY TO KICK OFF 2012 WITH TOP CANADIAN MMA STARS

Posted on | December 16, 2011 | No Comments

First 2012 event to feature Ryan Ford, Tyson Steele, and Victor Valimaki

Edmonton, Alberta (Canada): 2011 was a solid year for Aggression MMA, but it’s time to turn the page and get ready for this next year. Top Canadian fight promotion Aggression MMA is poised to make 2012 its best year yet, and is going to kick off the year in style with a fight card on February 11th. Scheduled to compete at this exciting event is top Canadian welterweight Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford, rising star Tyson “The Man of” Steele, UFC vet Victor “The Matrix” Valimaki, and well-known Canadian competitors Tim Chemelli, “Big Bad” Stephen Beaumont, and Markhaile “Showtime” Wedderburn.

This event will take place at the Shaw Conference Center on Saturday, February 11th. Tickets are available over the phone at (780) 426-SOLD, or online at www.TNTTickets.ca. Many more exciting fights will be announced in the coming weeks!

“What a way to kick off 2012!” exclaimed Aggression MMA Co-Owner Moin Mirza. “We’re bringing some of the best Canadian fighters back to Edmonton once again, and I can’t wait to see them put on awesome performances in front of our faithful fight fans like only they can!”

Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford (16-4) is one of the top MMA stars in Canada. Ford was upset by David Hulett in his last bout, but before that defeat, he had won four straight fights, as well as eight of his last nine, finishing all his victims on either punches or submissions. In 2011 alone, he conquered Johnny Davis, former UFC welterweight contender Karo Parisyan, and fellow top Canadian Nick Hinchliffe in succession. Now looking to rebound from the Hulett loss, “The Real Deal” is motivated with a burning desire to show the fight world he truly is the next elite Canadian fighter.

Ford faces no easy task in his return bout, as he will step in the cage with rising star Tyson “The Man of” Steele (8-1). Also rumored to be on the radar of the UFC, Steele is one of the most exciting Canadian competitors on the circuit. Having never been to a decision, Steele has submitted seven of his eight victims, and knocked out the other one. A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the 6-foot tall Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist is ready to add “The Real Deal” to his list of victims and make a huge splash in the process.

“This is a huge opportunity for me, and I am grateful to Aggression for making it happen,” says “The Man of” Steele. “I want to make it to the UFC, and this could be the fight that puts me one step closer to the call that every fighter dreams of. I know what I have to do to get there, and that’s take on the best and beat the best. Unfortunately for Ryan Ford, he’s put himself right in my path, and I’ve got to go through him.”

Edmonton, Alberta native and local favorite Victor “The Matrix” Valimaki (16-8), a former holder of the TFC Light Heavyweight Championship, will look to right the ship as he collides with another rising Canadian star in Tim Chemelli (8-1). A former UFC fighter, “The Matrix” is going through a rough streak in his career, but is determined to get back in the win column at the expense of his young foe. Valimaki holds victories over MMA legend Dan “The Beast” Severn, and UFC veterans Vernon “Tiger” White and Jason “Dooms” Day. Chemelli, a member of Team Sparta and a native of Alberta, has finished all eight of his opponents in his victories, but is coming off his first career loss. The defeat came at Aggression: “Unfinished Business” last year against Nick Penner. Now this finishing machine will look to come back strong and grab victory against a UFC vet in Valimaki.

Also competing on the card will be tough Canadians Stephan Beaumont, who is undefeated at 4-0, and strong Muay Thai fighter Markhaile “Showtime” Wedderburn will put their skill sets on display once again for the Aggression fans.

“We acquired The Fight Club in late 2010, and our promotions merged to form one of the best fight promotions in the Great White North,” stated Aggression MMA Co-Owner Harvey Panesar. “With a full 2011 campaign under our belt, we feel we’re right on the cusp of making some major noise in the MMA world. 2012 is shaping up to be an exciting year!”

Jones Demolishes Williams in Oklahoma City!

Posted on | December 16, 2011 | No Comments

Carson Jones

Oklahoma City, OK (December 16, 2011) – Top-flight welterweight Carson Jones retained his USBA championship with a sensational fourth round stoppage of 2000 Olympic Silver Medalist Ricardo Williams Thursday evening at Oklahoma City’s Remington Park.

Backed by a large group of supporters, Jones was in complete control from the opening bell. The Oklahoma City native decked his highly touted opponent on three separate occasions, forcing referee Steve Smoger to halt the contest at 1:21 of round four. With the victory, Jones put himself in line for world title shot.

“He was a tough opponent and it felt good to be the first guy to stop him” said the 25 year-old Jones, the IBF’s third rated welterweight who improved to 33-8-2 with 23 KO’s after knocking out his seventh consecutive opponent. “God has done a lot for me and I’m thankful to be in the position I’m in.”

Jones’ promoter also believes that his fighter earned his right to challenge for a world championship due to his level of opposition.

“After last night, nobody should question his legitimacy as a title contender,” stated Bobby Dobbs of HD Boxing. “Carson’s earned his shot the hard way by stopping quality fighters. After knocking out Michael Clark, Said Ouali and now Ricardo Williams, we’re definitely ready to fight for the IBF title in 2012.”

HD Boxing’s next card takes place January 26 at the Coca Cola Event Center inOklahoma City.

McDermott and Abraham traded heavy blows for much of the fight with each guy having an advantage at various times in the bout.

Bellator Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament Beginning To Take Shape

Posted on | December 16, 2011 | No Comments

CHICAGO, Ill. (December 16, 2011) — After a Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament that saw Brazilian phenom Eduardo “Dudu” Dantas (@Dudantas22) secure a title shot against reigning Bellator Bantamweight Champion Zach Makovsky, eight of the world’s top 135 pounders are back for Bellator’s sixth season, eager to claim a title shot of their own. Bellator will begin its sixth season Friday, March 2 LIVE on MTV2 and in commercial-free HD on EPIX.

“Our Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament was stacked with world class talent, but this one may be ever stronger,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney. “There is not an easy fight anywhere in this group and we have a couple of surprise announcements coming soon that will take this to the next level.”

While all eight tournament participants have yet to be announced, the field is beginning to take shape. Fresh off a finals appearance in last season’s tournament, Alexis Vila (@Alexis_Vila135) will return to the Bellator cage for another shot at a tournament championship. “The Exorcist” became a fan favorite after delivering a stunning knockout to Joe Warren at Bellator 51 (Watch Here: http://bit.ly/n3N5UB), and will look to provide nightmares to the competition this season.

Bellator tournament veteran, Ed “Wild” West (@EdWestMMA) is back and looking to avenge his split-decision loss to Eduardo Dantas with a long tournament run. In his last 11 fights, West has only two blemishes on an otherwise impressive record. The losses came at the hands of World Champion Makovsky and the aforementioned Dantas, and West knows winning the tournament will guarantee a rematch and a chance to pay back one of the two world-class fighters.

“I’d love to fight Dantas again,” West said. “Either guy would be fun, but I’d love to get another shot at Dantas. I’d never look past this tournament, and I know the field is going to be really tough, but that fact is certainly present, and I’m ready to get started.”

Nova Uniao product Marcos Galvao (@MarcosGalvaoMMA) will try his hand at another Bellator tournament after suffering a controversial split-decision loss to Alexis Vila at Bellator 55. Many thought Galvao, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, controlled the pace during his fight with Vila, but the judges felt differently and “Loro” will be looking to finish his opponents during his Season six tournament run.

Two promising Brazilians will be looking to make an impression as Luis “Betao” Nogueira (@NogueiraRFT) and Rodrigo Lima (@rodrigoratinho1) have both been confirmed for the Season 6 tournament. Lima makes his Bellator debut compiling a perfect 9-0 record, including seven finishes.

Announcements on the three remaining participants will be coming shortly, as well as tournament pairings for the highly anticipated tournament.
