Stevenage’s exceptional Light Middleweight prospect Daniel ‘Hurricane’ Herdman gets his first outing of the year, when he faces Halesowen hardman Kevin McCauley at the Steve Goodwin promoted ‘Essex Eruption’ quadruple headlined super show at Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, Essex on Saturday 19th March 2011
Daniel recently made a successful return to the sport, following a two year sabbatical after breaking his hand during his June 2008 battle with Russell Pearce.
Back in December Daniel faced super tough Lincolnshire battler Ryan Clark at York Hall. A cracking fight ensued, neither fighter gave or expected any quarter, both attacked in similar style often finishing off with vicious left-right combinations to the body or head. Daniel, being the much more busier in his attacks, took the first couple of rounds. Clark stepped it up in the third, which would prove to be a very close round, as both had equal success with their heavy handed attacks.
Daniel not only took control of the final round but also came close to securing a stoppage finish mid way through, after following in with a vicious double hand attack after forcing Clark back onto the ropes. Daniel kept up the pressure until the final bell and was declared victor by a clear 39-37 points margin.
Following sparring, at the Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym in Canning Town, Daniel briefly spoke about the Clark fight and his upcoming 19th March clash with Kevin McCauley, “I was so pleased to get a win on my return, especially against such a tough opponent as Ryan.
My hand feels absolutely fine, no problems whatsoever.
Kevin’s another very tough opponent but my preparations have been going really well and have had plenty of good sparring to get ready for the 19th.
I feel good and strong so am really looking forward to getting back out. I’m ready so expect fireworks on the 19th because I’m really going to go for it.
It’s a big show, Steve Goodwin always gives the fans great shows, this one is massive. I’ll be going out to give the best performance on the night. I want to not only win, I want to win big and get fight of the night.”
