March 4, 2008 — Fighting in Baja California, Mexico for the first time in her career, undefeated Bantamweight prospect Kaleisha “Wild Wild” West (7-0-0, 0 KO’S) is heading south of the border hoping to extend her fight streak to 8 straight wins. On March 29, 2008, the Moreno Valley native looks to impress a sell out crowd in front of the famous “Gymnasio Tigre Garcia” in Ensenada, Baja California Mexico.
West is scheduled to fight Ceniz Meraz (0-1-1, 0 KO’S) from Sonora, Mexico. While looking to build on her WBC #9 ranking, West expressed the following thoughts on fighting in Mexico for her first time; “I’m excited for the opportunity that Cota Boxing Promotions has given me to showcase my skills and I hope to give the fans in Mexico a fight that they’ll never forget. My father has a lot of respect for Mexican fighters and he has made me understand that I’m not facing a duck.”
Kay also went on to say, “I’m training hard as if this fight was my last. I want to give the crowd something to cheer about. Being that I’m half Mexican, it makes me more proud and pumps me up knowing I’m representing my own heritage. I love to hear the crowd and it gets me going…I fight for the people.”
