Three titles on the line at “Warpath”
Apple Valley, CA (USA): The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and Tedd Williams’ Gladiator Challenge are proud to come together to present another star-studded event, “Warpath,” which will take place on Saturday, May 21st at the Shingle Springs Rancheria. Three GC titles will be on the line at “Warpath,” as the heavyweight, middleweight, and welterweight titles will all be defended.
Doors for “Warpath” will open at 11 AM, with the first fight kicking off at 1 PM. Tickets for this exciting event are available through the Virtual Box Office at http://gc.vbotickets.com/ or via phone at or by calling (888) 826-8858. Parking will be available in Red HawkÔ Casino’s parking garage. A shuttle will take guests from the casino to the event.
In the main event, Ruben “Warpath” Villareal (19-20-3) will defend the Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight Championship against up-and-comer Rob “The Caveman” Jackson (3-1). “Warpath,” also the holder of the GC Native American Heavyweight title, grabbed the vacant GC heavyweight strap after a battle with Wes Combs via unanimous decision at “Undisputed” last year. He has faced big-name MMA fighters such as UFCÒ/Strikeforce veterans Paul Buentello and Mike Whitehead, former PRIDE fighters Dan Bobish and Travis Wiuff, UFCÒ veteran Justin McCully, former UFCÒ Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez, current Strikeforce star Antonio Silva, and fight legends Dan “The Beast” Severn, Don “The Predator” Frye, and Bas Rutten.
Jackson has won three of his four fights, all of them taking place in GC. Now, he’ll look to shock the California fight scene and take the GC belt.
GC favorite James “The Educator” Fanshier (17-11) will return from a nine-month hiatus from fighting to put his GC middleweight crown on the line against tough veteran Richard Blake (6-17). One of the most experienced GC competitors ever, Fanshier holds a 13-5 record with the promotion. He has faced notable fighters such as Chris Leben, James Lee, Thomas “Wildman” Denny, Shannon Ritch, Joey Villasenor, Jeremiah Metcalf, Ronald Jhun, and Mike “The Joker” Guymon.
In a battle for the interim GC Welterweight Championship, Jaime “El Cucui” Jara (30-9-0-1) will face undefeated young upstart Justin Baesman (5-0). Jara has won nine of his last eleven fights, including an exciting rear-naked choke submission victory over Larry Mays at “High Octane” in March. During his long career, he’s faced Scott “Hands of Steel” Smith, Anthony Ruiz, Rashad Evans, Kyacey Uscola, Jeremiah Metcalf, Doug Marshall, Jay Silva, and Waachiim Spiritwolf.
In addition to the title fights, Strikeforce veteran Eric Lawson will battle the ultra-tough Larry Mays in a GC middleweight title contender’s bout. GC fans won’t want to miss this incredible night of action!
