PREMIERES SATURDAY, APR. 12 ON HBO

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING

HBO Sports is presenting a thirty-minute special analyzing the upcoming HBO World Championship Boxing matchup between two of boxing’s most accomplished fighters: Bernard Hopkins and Joe Calzaghe. Their long-awaited showdown is set for Saturday, Apr. 19 in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center and will be carried live on HBO.

The special “COUNTDOWN TO HOPKINS-CALZAGHE,” which will feature fighter profiles, expert analysis and forecasts for the light heavyweight matchup, will premiere on the main service on Saturday, Apr. 12 immediately after the HBO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast from Atlantic City which begins at 10:00 p.m. ET/ 7:00 p.m. PT.

Hopkins (48-4-1, 32 KOs), a Philadelphia native, looks to remain undefeated at light heavyweight following unanimous decision victories over Antonio Tarver and Winky Wright in his first two fights at 175 pounds. Calzaghe (44-0, 32 KOs), a native of Newbridge, Wales, makes both his light heavyweight and U.S. debut following a stellar 10-year run as world super middleweight champion. Both fighters enter this intriguing showdown with high expectations of putting a glowing exclamation mark on their star-studded ring careers.

The countdown special will also be available to HBO ON DEMAND subscribers 24 hours a day starting Monday, April 14 through Monday, April 21.
