POUND FOR POUND KING OF THE RING FLOYD MAYWEATHER TO ATTEND ESPN2 ‘FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS’ IN WASHINGTON, DC MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, MAY 25

WASHINGTON, DC (May 23, 2007) . . . Pound for pound king of the ring and newly crowned WBC super welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather is coming to the District of Columbia to attend this Friday’s ESPN2’s ‘Friday Night Fights’ at the D.C. Armory, featuring the hometown debuts of rising stars Anthony Peterson and Lamont Peterson. Mayweather, who will be accompanied by longtime advisor, trainer and friend Leonard Ellerbe—a District native who grew up in Northeast area—will sit ringside with Mayor Adrian Fenty for the action-packed fight night.

Mayweather will also take time to visit with hundreds of military men, women and their families in attendance as part of a special tribute to the Armed Forces for the Memorial Day match-up.

“D.C is a great city and I am excited to be able to visit and support the Peterson brothers on their big night”, said Mayweather. “It makes it even more special that I get to be here on such an important weekend to honor the troops and to celebrate with Leonard Ellerbe who is coming home to visit his family and friends. He’s always in my corner and now I get to hang out in his.”

In addition to his appearance at Friday’s ESPN2 show, Mayweather’s other weekend plans include a stop on Capitol Hill, a visit with local kids at Thomas Circle Sports Club and hosting of two parties at clubs H2O and Platinum.

Anthony Peterson (NABO Lightweight Champion 22-0, 16KO’s) and Lamont Peterson (WBC United States Light Welterweight Champion 20-0, 8KO’s), will headline a live ESPN2 ‘Friday Night Fights’ broadcast beginning Friday, May 25 at 9 pm EST, from the D.C. Armory in Washington, D.C.
