OSCAR DE LA HOYA AND STEVE FORBES ARRIVE IN LOS ANGELES THIS SATURDAY TO PARTAKE IN FIGHT WEEK ACTIVITIES FIT FOR A “HOMECOMING”

LOS ANGELES (April 25, 2008) – Oscar de la Hoya and Steve Forbes will both arrive in Los Angeles this Saturday and immediately partake in activities to promote their May 3 “Homecoming” bout at The Home Depot Center’s 27,000 seat soccer stadium in Carson, CA which will be televised live on HBO’s World Championship Boxing.
De La Hoya, who will be arriving in the afternoon from his training camp in Puerto Rico, will go immediately to Dodger Stadium where he will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for that evening’s Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies game. Simultaneously, Forbes, flying in Saturday afternoon from his Las Vegas training camp, will head to the Home Depot Center Soccer Stadium midfield—the same spot where the ring will be placed for his bout against De La Hoya—to participate in the ceremonial coin toss and official LA Galaxy team photo prior to the start of the Galaxy’s game against Chivas USA that night. Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Jeff Mayweather, respective trainers for Oscar de la Hoya and Steve Forbes, will conduct an international conference call with media members to discuss their fighters’ preparations for the fight.

MEDIA CENTER: The Millennium Biltmore Hotel Media Center will be open from 9am-5pm beginning Tuesday, April 29 through Friday, May 2. The Media Center is located in the Soccer Stadium Press Box from 3pm-post fight on Friday, May 2 and 2:30pm-post fight on Saturday, May 3.
CREDENTIAL DISTRIBUTION: Temporary Fight Week Credential distribution will be outside the Millennium Biltmore Hotel Media Center from 9am-5pm Tuesday, April 29 through Thursday, May 1. On Friday May 2, the credential desk is open from 9am-2pm and then moves to The Home Depot Center at the South West Tower Entrance. On Saturday, May 3, the credential desk will be located at the North West Box Office and open from 2:30pm-7:00pm.
“Homecoming” — On Saturday, May 3, De La Hoya will face former world champion Steve Forbes, in what will be the first-ever boxing event at The Home Depot Center’s soccer stadium. The bout will also mark De La Hoya’s return home to fight for the first time in Los Angeles since 2000 as well as his return to HBO’s World Championship Boxing for the first time since 2001. “Homecoming” is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Tournament of Contenders, AEG and The Home Depot Center and is sponsored by Cazadores, Tecate, Rockstar Energy Drink, Southwest Airlines and Affliction Clothing. The match up will be televised live by HBO’s World Championship Boxing beginning at 10pm ET / 7pm PT.
