2008 MMA Amateur National Championships

This year’s tournament looks to be the largest All-Discipline Martial Arts Tournament ever held. This year’s tournament will include competitions in Mixed Martial Arts, all Mat Sports… Forms / Musical Forms, Aero-Kickboxing & Point Fighting (Light Contact-Continuous & Semi-Contact) & Ring Sports… Kickboxing (K-1 Style, Full Contact and Low Kick).

Competitors in the Mat Sports divisions will be competing to qualify for a chance to be selected for the U.S. Team. This will be 1 of 3 qualifying events that will take place around the country in which competitors will qualify for a chance to be selected by the board of KICK/WAKO to represent the United States in the World Championships.

MMA Weight Classes

Flyweight: 125 lbs. & Below

Bantamweight 125.1 to 135 lbs.

Featherweight 135.1 to 145 lbs.

Lightweight 145.1 to 155 lbs.

Welterweight 155.1 to 170 lbs.

Middleweight 170.1 to 185 lbs.

Light Heavyweight 185.1 to 205 lbs.

Heavyweight 205.1 to 265 lbs.

Super Heavyweight 265.1 lbs. & Above
