As with most great stories, Luis Hernandez came from humble beginnings.  He was born in Wilmington Delaware, the son of immigrants from Mexico in search of a better life.  His father, a migrant worker,  wanted a better quality of life for his family.  His goal was to make sure that his children would not have to do the same type of work that he did.

Unfortunately, Luis seemed to always find his way into trouble.  He seemed to always be in the middle of whatever fight or argument was going on and was developing a reputation as a trouble maker and malcontent.  In an effort to keep him out of the principal’s office or worse, Luis’ family put him into boxing to help channel his aggression.

While remembering his past, Luis has his eyes firmly set on the future and the goals he has made for himself.  The first of those is to make the US Olympic Boxing Team.  Luis has been competing in the Regional and local Golden Gloves tournaments looking to earn his spot for the Olympics.  Most recently he came in second at the East Coast Regional tournament after losing by decision in a hard fought final. (read more here)

Luis now has one last chance to make it to London in 2012.  He will be fighting in a last chance qualifier in Cincinnati Ohio July 3rd – 9th. (read more here) Luis knows how important this opportunity is and has been training tirelessly to ensure that he comes out on top.  His never quit attitude and impressive work ethic combined with your support has put him in this position to succeed.  On behalf of Luis Hernandez and the Modern Vee Jitsu Athletic Training Center, I want to thank you for your support in helping to make his dream a reality.
