Joey Coco Diaz recently joined the Fight News Unlimited team as an embedded MMA correspondent, and his connections with UFC stars like Eddie Bravo and Ivan Salaverry put him in a position to rub elbows with the best in the business. He’s also close with UFC Commentator Joe Rogan, as you can tell by this picture of the two comics:
But, don’t get Diaz wrong. It’s not all fun and games. This year he’s decided to take control of his weight, vowing to shed 100 pounds and make it a reality TV show in the process. All his antics as Joey Karate come from a genuine love for martial arts and his willingness to poke fun at himself to make others laugh. Along the way, popping in and out of his character, he’s made some quick connections in the industry with a fledgling MMA circuit called Xtreme Fighting Association (XFA) and with the Sinister folks. Behind all the funny business, we found out that Joey Karate is just one side of Diaz and that he has a wealth of knowledge about MMA while hoping to learn more and pick up as much new knowledge as he can.
