Mensah defeats Gorges for the IBF International Jr welterweight title—FIGHTS NOW AVAILABLE ON DEMAND ON GFL

CHICAGO/NEW YORK (July 18, 2011)– In the main event for CFC Promotions “Chicago Fight Night #2” welterweight Lanardo “The Pain Server” Tyner improved to (25-4-2 15 KO’s) by defeating former world champion “Vicious” Vivian Harris (29-7-1 19KO’s) via Unanimous Decision thus capturing the vacant USBO welterweight champion. The official judges score cards read 97-93, 97-93 and 96-94 all in favor for Lanardo Tyner.

The Co:Main Event featured the current WBA Pan African & ABU light welterweight champion Albert “Tornado” Mensah taking on Canadian star “Gorgeous” Andre Gorges. The African Mensah improves his record to (23-3-1 10KO’s) by winning a Unanimous decision over “Gorgeous” Andre Gorges (11-2 6KO’s). With this victory Mensah not only captures the IBF International Jr welterweight title he also catapults up the rankings.

 

In a battle of the undefeated Jr welterweights Antonio Canas (5-0 3KO’s) decisions Larry Ventis (4-1 3KO’s). Visibly upset after the final bell Ventis bumps into Canas with his shoulders and Canas returns the favor, Ventis throws a punch at Canas that lands. A brawl always ensues but the referee Celestino Ruiz manages to calm the situation down. Ruiz then penalized Ventis deducting two points off Ventis. Judges score cards read 39-35, 39-35 and 38-36.

Jr Welterweights Adrian Granados defeats Antton Slaughter via decision; all three judges scored the fight 58-56.

Featherweight Sergio Montes De Oca (4 -1 1KO) TKO’s Raymond Torres (0-3) in just 34 seconds in round #1.

Middleweight Donatas Bondoravas   improves to (13-3-1) by defeating former contender Marlon Thomas who falls to (36-8-1 21KO’s). After a four year hiatus from the sport of boxing Thomas returned with legendary hall of famer Tommy “Hitman” Hearns and “Fearless” Fernando Hernandez working his corner. The judges scored card read 58-56, 58-56 & 59-55.
