Los Angeles (July 22, 2011) – Goossen Tutor Promotions has named Danny Brener, son of California Boxing Hall of Fame and public relations veteran Steve Brener, as its Vice President of Communications. The younger Brener has grown up surrounded by the sport of boxing and the skills needed to be a top publicist. Almost seven years ago to the day, Brener officially began working in boxing for his father’s famed sports public relations firm, Brener Zwikel & Associates.
“I am honored to be considered for this position and look forward to working with Dan Goossen and the Goossen Tutor fighters,” said Brener. “I spent my eighteenth birthday working the Tyson-Williams fight in Louisville, and I remember it like it was yesterday. It was my first event, where I wasn’t a spectator, and I really enjoyed working with the people and characters in the world of boxing.” In addition to his father, it was characters the likes of publicist John Beyrooty, and the energetic Burt Watson who, during that particular fight, passed along a passion for the sport that has stuck with Danny all this time.
In the seven years since, Brener has worked countless sporting events, while mainly focusing on Boxing and MMA at venues all across the nation.
Having already worked closely with the Goossen family, Brener feels right at home with his new position. “I’m a huge fan of the all of the fighters in the Goossen Tutor stable, and I’m extremely excited at the prospect of helping them as well as each boxing event reach their maximum potential, as I grow to reach mine.”
Brener will celebrate his new job with his family and friends on Sunday, only two days before turning 25 years of age. “I know I’m not too young to handle this great responsibility at all,” says Brener, who’s father became the head of PR for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the youngest director in Major League history at the time at the tender age of twenty-four.
Said Dan Goossen of his new publicist, “What I see is a young, hungry, knowledgeable, passionate person wanting to provide our fighters the biggest and best media exposure. Danny will bring a fresh and ‘raring to go’ attitude to our world champions and top world contenders.”
