12 round cruiserweight affair added to an already packed night of boxing
PHILADELPHIA (May 15, 2008)—In what was already a big night of boxing just got even bigger as a twelve round cruiserweight battle between Elieser Castillo & Adam Harris has been added to a great night of boxing at The Legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia.
Castillo of Miami via Havana, Cuba has been a mainstay in the Heavyweight division as he has fought and defeated some top-ranked contenders over his twelve year career.
Castillo has a record of 30-6-2 with seventeen knockouts. He holds victories over the first man to defeat Wladimir Klitschko in Ross Purrity, undefeated Andre Purlette (32-0), former U.S. Olympian Lawrence Clay-Bey (18-1) & former IBF Cruiserweight champion Uriah Grant, who Castillo starched in one round.
Castillo has never been knocked out despite being in the ring with a whose-who of the Heavyweight division. He has gone the distance with former IBF Heavyweuight champion Chris Byrd, former WBO Heavyweight title challenger Alexander Zolkin for which Castillo battled to a disputed draw, as well as dropping razor thin majority decision to former WBC Heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon and former IBF world title challenger DaVarryl Williamson.
In a way Castillo can avenge the loss to Witherspoon as the former WBC champ is one of Harris’ trainers.
Castillo is coming off a sixth round stoppage over Lenzie Morgan this past February 21st in Miami
A win over Castillo would catapult the thirty-three year old Harris.
Harris, who now resides in Philadelphia is a native of Worcester, Massachusetts and has a record of 10-0 with seven knockouts.
Harris has been slowly stepping up the competition and Castillo presents the biggest challenge by far for Harris.
Harris is coming off a six round majority decision over Garry Campbell on November 2nd at The Legendary Blue Horizon.
The co-feature will be a featherweight tussle between Jules Blackwell (7-0-2, 2 KO’s) of Phoenixville, Pa and Tyrell Samuel (9-2, 5 KO’s) of Philadelphia.
Steve Upsher (16-1-1, 4 KO’s) takes on Jaime Morales (4-7, 2 KO’s) in a battle of Jr. Welterweights from Philadelphia scheduled for six rounds.
Gerald Smith (2-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia will take on Ronnie Boyd (5-3, 2 KO’s) of Washington, DC in a four round Super Featherweight bout.
Also seeing action on June 6th will be middleweight Mario Mina (1-0, 1 KO), cruiserweight Ran Naksah (12-0, 8 KO’s), middleweight Deferson Legrand (3-0, 2 KO’s), jr. middleweight Orlando Lewis (4-1, 3 KO’s) and featherweight Paul Fernandez (2-1-1, 2 KO’s)
