New York, New York (May 15, 2008)—www.gofightlive.tv is pleased to announce that it will be broadcasting the much anticipated bout between WBC Super Flyweight champion Cristian Mijares and WBA Super Flyweight champion Alexander Munoz this Saturday May 17th starting at
This fight is one of the most anticipated bouts of 2008 as its pits two distinguished title-holders in a fight for supremacy in the hot 115-pound division.
Mijares, 34-3-2 with fifteen knockouts has made six successful defenses of the WBC crown since winning the interim title against Katsushige Kawashima in September of 2006.
Among those title defenses is a one-sided drubbing over the popular and accomplished Jorge Arce. The Durango, Mexico native is coming off a terrific performance in a winning a split decision over former U.S. Olympian, Jose Navarro on February 16th on the Kelly Pavlik-Jermain Taylor II undercard.
Munoz, 32-2 is a big puncher with twenty-seven wins coming by knockout and is a two-time WBA champion.
Like Mijares, Munoz first won his title in Japan. He knocked out Celes Kobayashi in 2002. He made three defenses until dropping the belt by decision to Martin Castillo. Munoz worked his way back for a title shot with Castillo before dropping a razor thin decision to the fellow Mexican.
Munoz earned a shot at the man who beat Castillo, Nobuo Nashiro and once again won the WBA crown in Japan. Japan has been good to Munoz as he has since defended the belt twice including a twelve round unanimous decision over Kawahsima this past January.
For Go Fight Live subscribers, this is a great event; there is a terrific undercard that will feature an outstanding WBC Flyweight eliminator between Omar Salado and Julio Cesar Miranda.
Salado is undefeated with a record of 19-0-1 with eleven knockouts. The native of Tijuana, Mexico has won four in a since suffering the only blemish which was a draw to Currant world Jr. Flyweight champion, Ulises Solis. Miranda, 25-3-1 with eighteen knockouts is on a roll as he has won seventeen consecutive bouts to earn this opportunity.
The winner of this bout will be in line to fight for the title against reigning WBC champ Daisuke Naito.
