On the undercard of Friday’s “Clash at the Chumash” event at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California, welterweight prospect “Slick” Michael Anderson moved his record to 11-0-1, 9 KOs by making quick work of journeyman Bernardo Guereca via KO 1 (2:19).

From East Orange, New Jersey, 30-year-old Anderson is a natural to the sport. Despite having just 13 unpaid fights, he was New Jersey State amateur champion before turning professional in late 2007.

With blazing-fast hands and feet and a penchant for digging to the body, Anderson’s style is reminiscent of his fistic idol, “Sugar” Shane Mosley.

“If you didn’t look at his amateur record you’d think he’s been fighting since he’s eight years old,” said Anderson’s promoter, Gary Shaw of Gary Shaw Productions. “The way he moves and slips punches is amazing to watch and he’s got great power for such a speedy fighter.”

Anderson had a draw in his third fight against California’s Dashon Johnson (now 13-4), but stopped Johnson in a rematch in December of last year.
