The media and general public are invited to the official weigh-in for Hitz Boxing’s “Fight Night at the Horseshoe” event at the Horseshoe Casino (777 Casino Center Dr., in Hammond, Indiana, in Ballroom C on the third floor) TODAY: Thursday, August 18 AT 5 PM.
The ESPN-televised “Fight Night at the Horseshoe” will be held tomorrow night at the Horseshoe Casino, featuring in the main event, scheduled for 10 rounds in the junior middleweight division, former two-time world amateur champion and 2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius Andrade, 13-0 with 9 knockouts, of Providence, Rhode Island, stepping up in class against his most accomplished and dangerous opponent yet as a pro – veteran Grady Brewer, 28-12 with 16 knockouts, of Lawton, Oklahoma.
The co-featured bout, scheduled for 10 rounds in the lightweight division, could stand as a main event on its own – former WBC lightweight world champion David Diaz, 36-3-1 with 17 knockouts, of Chicago, will battle rising contender “Hammerin'” Hank Lundy, 20-1-1 with 10 knockouts, of Philadelphia.
Diaz was born and raised in Chicago, and is a local hero. A 1996 U.S. Olympian, he won the WBC title in August, 2006, and made a successful title defense against Mexican legend Erik Morales at the Allstate Arena a year later. Lundy is coming off an exciting 10-round decision win against former two-time Venezuelan Olympian Patrick Lopez in his last fight on April 1.
On the undercard, former world champion and Chicago native Montell “Ice” Griffin (49-8-1, 30 KOs) will go for his 50th professional victory against former world title challenger Deandrey Abron (15-9, 10 KOs) of Youngstown, Ohio, in an eight-round light heavyweight battle.
Also scheduled is a six-round lightweight bout between Los Angeles via Ghana’s Yakubu “Black Mamba” Amidu, (19-2-1, 17 KOs) and Toledo, Ohio’s Martin Tucker, (7-9, 3 KOs); a four-round light welterweight bout between George Esho (1-1) of Chicago and Aaron Lucky of Anderson, Indiana (0-2); a featherweight four-rounder between Chicago’s Paulie Settepani (1-0, 1 KO) and Indianapolis pro debuter Dwayne Wisdom; a super middleweight four-rounder between Chicago’s Mike Kurzeja (4-0-1, 4 KOs) and Jeremy Wood (1-3, 1 KO) of Sydney, Ohio; a junior welterweight four rounder between Chris Singleton (2-0, 2 KOs) of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Gabriel Morris (4-11-2) of Toledo; a junior middleweight six-rounder between Rockford, Illinois’ “Bazooka” Joe Linenfelser (9-1-1, 6 KOs) and hometown boy Ruben Galvan (27-17-4, 10 KOs) of Hammond, Indiana; and a six-round featherweight bout between Arapahoe, North Carolina via Igrim, Russia’s Evgeny Gradovich (10-0, 6 KOs) and Robert “Don’t Lose” DaLuz (13-38-3, 9 KOs) of Providence, Rhode Island.
