Undefeated featherweight dynamo Luis “Orlandito” del Valle (13-0,10 KO’s) will return to action on Saturday, September 3, at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, as part of an event called “Battle in Biloxi” with an HBO-televised main event featuring the IBF Welterweight championship fight between Jan Zaveck and former champ Andre Berto.
Del Valle will take on Kenyan boxer Anthony Napunyi (14-10, 7 KO’s) in a 10-round bout.
Del Valle was last seen in a SHOWTIME-televised unanimous decision win over tough Vietnamese slugger Dat Nguyen, which made him the NABA Featherweight Champion.
“We are going to fight a strong Kenyan. He lost his last fight, but he didn’t fight at his natural weight of 122 pounds and I’ve been told that he is training hard. We’re ready for this new test and we’re going to bring this victory back to Puerto Rico,” said Del Valle, who is promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and DiBella Entertainment.
Del Valle is currently ranked number 10 at 126 lbs by the World Boxing Association (WBA), but in 2012 he will campaign at 122 pounds and for that reason this fight will be fought at a catch-weight of 124 pounds.
“I think the 122 is comfortable for ‘Orlandito’ because he always comes in weighing less than 126 pounds. We talked to Lou DiBella and the decision was made to drop down to 122,” said Raymond Rivera, trainer and manager of the undefeated prospect.
Tickets for Berto vs Zaveck are priced at $150, $100 and $50 and are available online at http://www.ticketmaster.com/, or by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 in any Ticketmaster outlet or the box office at Beau Rivage Theatre.
