Ring of Combat returned with the 37th installment of the popular East Coast MMA promotion as Ring of Combat XXXVII gave the fans 3 exciting title fights on an 11-bout card. All 11 bouts ended in finishes with spectacular knockouts and submissions. This event was definitely a crowd-pleaser and a very rare opportunity for the fans to get to see stoppages in every bout.
In the main event, Deividas Taurosevicious (13-5) submitted Ronnie Rogers (9-6) via rear naked choke in Round 2 to win the 145 lb ROC Title. Taurosevicious, who has fought for a variety of top organizations in his career, including Bellator, WEC and the IFL, finally got a chance to put gold around his waist to the cheers of the crowd. Taurosevicious, who played professional rugby in his home country of Lithuania, proved too much for the determined Rogers, who was a late replacement, but a deserving challenger for the featherweight belt. A Renzo Gracie student, Taurosevicious was able to control the ground fighting and finally secured the choke midway through round two for the victory.
In a rematch for the ROC Lightweight Championship, Champion Al Iaquinta (6-0-1) defeated Gabriel Miglioli (2-3) by TKO in Round 1 to prove to everybody that he is the best at 155 lb in the ROC cage. The two fought earlier in the year with Iaquinta winning by split decision, but there would be no debate after this bout. Iaquinta attacked at the bell and landed hard punches that forced the referee stoppage less than 30 seconds into the bout.
In the other title fight, Tom DeBlass (5-0) remained undefeated as he beat TUF alum Mike Stewart (5-3) to win the ROC Light Heavyweight Title via TKO in Round 1. After a brief stint on the mat started by a strong takedown by Stewart in which he ended up in DeBlass’ guard, both men got to their feet and starting throwing haymakers. DeBlass found a home for his left hook and dropped Stewart and then finished up with a couple strikes on the ground for the victory. DeBlass is a blue-chipper who trains with some of the best in the world including Renzo Gracie and Ricardo Almeida so look for more big things from this fighter.
You won’t find a more action-packed fight card then this. ROC went 11 for 11 with stoppages, and there wasn’t a boring fight among the group. Some of the best fighters in the world have fought in the Ring of Combat cage, and this card is stacked full of some of the top prospects soon to make a splash on the national scene.
