San Jose, CA – October 12, 2011 — MMA Legend Frank Shamrock will be the official host of the upcoming Nor Cal Fight Fest in Blue Lake, California. The exciting MMA fight event will take place on Saturday, October 15 in the great outdoors at the Blue Lake Casino & Hotel.  Shamrock will be on hand to host the event and to scout new MMA talent.

Shamrock had this to say about his participation in the event, “Since the birth of my daughter, I’ve been working as close to home as possible. Now that she’s getting older, I plan to attend and host more local and regional fight events in an effort to scout fresh MMA talent for Frank Shamrock Inc. I am currently scouting talent for MMA based reality shows, feature films and promotional modeling.”

Shamrock went on to say, “I’m very excited about the upcoming Nor Cal Fight Fest, as some of the best fighters in the region (both male and female) will be competing. It’s going to be a great event. Fans in the area will not want to miss it!”

While Shamrock is in town, he will also be delivering a pre-game motivational speech to the Fortuna High School football team before their homecoming game.  The coach, who often relates football to MMA when preparing the team for battle, immediately reached out toShamrock upon hearing about his participation in the Nor Cal Fight Fest. The Legend, who accepted without hesitation, will also be leading the Fortuna Huskies onto to the field before the big game.

According to a Fortuna High School representative, “We are thrilled to have Frank Shamrock, a legend in the sport of MMA, deliver the pre-game pep talk before Friday night’s game. Coach Benbow has instilled in our athletes that it is imperative for football players to prepare both mentally and physically for battle on the field, much like an MMA fighter prepares before entering the cage.  Homecoming is the biggest game of the year and we are honored to have Shamrock as a part of our team!”

Frank Shamrock is considered a pioneer of mixed martial arts with a career in the cage rivaled by few. He was named “King of Pancrase” in 1996 and went on to become the first fighter to ever hold the UFC® Middleweight Championship Title. He was also the first WEC® Light Heavyweight Champion and the first Strikeforce® Middleweight Champion.  Shamrock’s success also reaches far beyond the cage as a respected MMA color commentator on CBS®, Showtime®, and ESPN2®. He is also an accomplished author in addition to leading a nationwide “anti-bully” campaign.
