The Brute Adidas Studios of Takedown Radio at Des Moines Sports Radio Station KXNO have been nominated for a coveted Marconi Award which is radios equivalent of the Oscar. We are one of 5 stations up for the award and one aspect of this award looks at specialty programming. Takedown Wrestling Radio is proud to be a part of the specialty programming offered by Clear Channel’s KXNO.

Adler Volmar- 2008 Olympic Judo Team Member Adler Volmar (Coral Springs, Fla. / 100kg), qualified for the 2008 Olympic Judo Team on Friday June 13, 2008 in Las Vegas. Adler is represented by Reed Wallace of White Chocolate Management in Hollywood, Florida as in one of Team USA’s great hopes for Olympic Gold.
Jack Childs-Head Coach at Drexel. Recently Coach Jack Childs announced the signing of four student-athletes for the 2008-09 season. Jack Callender, Jesse Carling, Matt Dugan and Steven Julian each signed a letter-of-intent to attend and compete at Drexel. Calendar at 197 pounds at Drexel. In his scholastic career at Council Rock North High School, PA. Callender was a regional runner-up at 215 pounds and was ranked as high as third in Pennsylvania as a senior. Carling is a Waverly High School, NY 149 pounds as a Dragon.
Dugan wrestled at 140 pounds for DeMatha High School who will look to compete at 141 pounds at Drexel. He placed twice at the National Prep Championships with third and fourth place finishes on his resume. Julian is a Plantation, Fla. Native who twice placed at the Florida State Championships and will look for a spot at 141 pounds
Nick Gallo-NCAA wrestling champion in 1977. Nick won the 126 lb. weight class, and was named the tournaments Outstanding Wrestler for his performance in what many observers declared the best weight class at the championships. He was a silver medalist in the 1980 World Cup, Pan American Trials Champion in 1979, and a member of the 1976 and 1980 Olympic Freestyle Wrestling Teams. Nick wrestled for the NYAC and Coach Bill Farrell during his post college career. He later became the National Director of the Dan Gable / ASICS Tiger Wrestling Camps, and is still a much sought after clinician, known for his unique and uncanny wrestling style. NCAA wrestling champion in 1977. Nick won the 126 lb. weight class, and was named the tournaments O W for his performance in what many observers declared the best weight class at the championships. Nick wrestled for the NYAC and Coach Bill Farrell during his post college career. Nick became the head coach at Hofstra in 1980 and led the team to 5 conference titles during his coaching career. Nick, along with Bill Farrell is one of the founders of TW Promotions (Asics)
Lou Rosselli- Asst. Head Coach of the Buckeye’s of The Ohio State University. One of reasons for the Buckeyes rise to greatness last season. Roselli, father of 3 boys is a tremendous asset to Ryan’s staff and will join us to discuss summer and fall prep.
Henry Cejudo- US Olympic Team member says “Bring On the World”. The son of former illegal immigrants, 20-year-old Henry Cejudo has overcome hardship to become the youngest U.S. wrestling champion in decades. Now he wants to be the best on the planet in Beijing, China
Nicholas Hopping- Author of the book “The Silent Gladiator”. This book, from one wrestler’s point of view, takes a look at the Making and Breaking of a US Olympic Team. Controversial for sure but a good read. Compelling, rich in color and insight. “Wrestling needs to get punched in the mouth” NH. Agree, disagree? Read the book and you decide.
