TakeDown Radio’s Flagship Station KXNO Nominated for 2008 Marconi Award

Des Moines Sports Station, AM 1460 KXNO, and home to Wrestling’s TakeDown Radio Is Nominated by the National Association of Broadcasters as “2008 Sports Station of the Year”

Des Moines, IA- July 21, 2008- 1460 KXNO, the Des Moines Fox Sports affiliate, has been nominated for the prestigious 2008 Marconi Award. The Marconi Awards are presented each year by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) to recognize one station in each of several categories. KXNO was nominated in the Best Sports Station Category.

The nomination is interesting and comes at a unique time for KXNO. The Des Moines station is the only 2008 nominee outside a major market. The other nominees in the category are located in Dallas, Phoenix, Boston, and Buffalo. The nomination also comes at a time when a new competitor entered the Des Moines market in the Sports Category.

Clear Channel Communications, parent of KXNO has earned Marconi Awards previously, and as recent at the 2007 Best Personalities Award for Van and Bonnie on sister station WHO. The 2007 Marconi Award for Best Sports Station is held by KTCK in Dallas. This years Awards will be presented on September 18 during an awards dinner and ceremony in Austin, TX.
