Carlos Ivan continued to shine as he demolished David Vasquez via 2nd round TKO. In the opening round, the Puerto Rican native imposed his strength as he pushed Vasquez back while landing nice left hooks to the head. Moving on to the second round, Carlos continued to apply pressure, landing a barrage of punches, ending the contest with a powerful right hand to the chin, forcing referee Raul Caiz stop the action at the 1:12 mark. Carlos improves to (8-0, 7 KO’s)
“I’m happy with my performance. Vasquez if a fighter with a lot of experience so I wanted to come out aggressive and it paid off. I feel great. I’m ready for the next step up. It’s time to get back in the gym.” ~ Carlos Ivan Velasquez
Twin brother Juan Carlos’s winning streak stays alive as he moves to (9-0, 5 KO’s) scoring a 2nd round TKO over Edison Morillo. In the first round, a timid Morillo ran around the ring as Juan stalked him while trying to land punches. Morillo pulled Juan down to the canvas early in the second and quit giving Velasquez the TKO.
“I wanted to showcase my skills tonight, but my opponent didn’t come to fight. I’m hoping to get a tougher challenge next time out. I got the win and that’s what matters.” ~ Juan Carlos Velasquez
