Karo Murat defends the EBU supermiddle title against Spaniard Gabriel Campbillo September 20 in Germany. This is likely to be a supporting bout to Kessler vs Haussler. Murat can already be found at # 9 in WBA ratings.
Francesco Pianeta and Scott Gammer clash for the vacant EU heavyweight title August 30 in Berlin on the undercard to Valuev vs Ruiz. The bill will also feature supermiddle Mads Larsen as well as heavies Rene Dettweiler and Cengiz Koc.
After Jean Pascal pulled out it will be Karoly Balszay and Jean Paul Mendy that fight for the WBO interim title. The fight is tentatively set for September 27 when Universum stage a big show – not yet officially confirmed – in Stuttgart with heavies Vladimir Virchis and Juan Carlos Gomez on top in a WBC eliminator.
Arena Box Promotion and Ahmet Oener states they left the German Federtation, the BDB, and didn´t have the license revoked as Bild Zeitung wrote.
It appears to be on: WBA jr welter champ Andreas Kotelnik defends the title against Japananese Norio Kimura September 13. Should all go well Kotelinik will then face hardpunching Argentinian Rene Maidana, who first have to beat Mexican Juan Carlos “Camel” Rodriguez August 29 in Duesseldorf.
SES have now reschuled EBU welter champ “Sugar” Jackson Osei Bonsu´s mandatory defence against Slovenian Jan Zaveck for October 10 in Maribor. The fight was first set for June but then Zaveck got injured and the fight was postponed. Jackson in his turn was then hoping to get his defence against Jan over with in August, make his debut in the US in September and then feature in a big fight – possible WBC eliminator – at home in Antwerp November 11.
Finnish middle Amin Asikainen face Argentinian Claudio Ariel Abalos August 30 in Tampere. It´s a scheduled eight-rounder and is to be the final tuneup for an upcoming EBU titlefight against Khoren Gevor.Jr welter prospects Dennis Shafikov and Edis Tatli are featured on the undercard along with heavies Sami Elovaara, back after another injury related layoff, and Juha Haapoja. Asikainen vs Gevor have September 4 as deadline for pursebids or agreement.
The Aftrican Warrior, Evans Oure Ashira, pulls no punches in going after Danish promoter Robert Larsen. The disagreement stems from Ashira´s fight against Mamadou Thiam earlier this year (won by Evans on a sixth round KO). Ashira claims he never was paid and it´s gone from there.
