WBA cruiser champ Firat Arslan takes on mandatory challenger Guillermo Jones from Panama September 27 at the Color Line Arena in Hamburg. Supporting bouts will be announced later but this date have previously been mentioned for the WBC heavyweight eliminator between Vladimir Virchis and Juan Carlos Gomez as well as for the fight for the WBO interim supermiddle title between Jean Paul Mendy and Karoly Balzsay.
Swedish-based Ugandan Peter Semo didn´t just lose a NABA titlefight at jr lightweight against Jo Jo Dan Friday night in Romania; he also lost a chance to fight Patrick Malinga for the vacant WBC Int´l title at lightweight – the fight was never set but in the works for a show staged on Finnish soil by Pro Box Scandinavia. The WBC Int´l now wants Peter to get some “significant results” before he can allowed to fight for its title. Also on the bill in Romania feather prospect Viorel Simion floored Semo´s stablemate Abdu Tebazalwa in the first en route to a unanimous decision after eight.
K 2 East have their next show scheduled for September 27 in Kiev but are uncertain about the headliner. It could be middleweight Maksim Bursak, IBF Youth titleholder, but it´s not set yet. As for K 2 East´s biggest star, EBU jr middle champ Zauerbek Baysangurov, his titledefence against Jamie Moore appears now to be headed for the UK in September.
Polish heavy Albert “the Dragon” Sosnowski, a very inflated 43-1, have his second fight in the US when he face Kevin Burnett August 6 in New York City. Sosnowski is still based in Poland but promoted by Star Boxing when over there.
The Mamadou Thiam-Predrag Radosevic fight set for Budva in Montenegro August 1 was for one reason or another canceled. The show went ahead headlined by heavyweight Nenad Borovcanin, who stopped a Hungarian opponent.
Norwegian superbantam Reidar Walstad, 18-2-2 and # 5 in the EBU ratings, outscored Sumaila Badu over four Friday night in Watford. Walstad is next scheduled to appear on Pugnus Boxing Promotions´ show in Karlstad, Sweden, September 5.
