BOSTON – The Boston University wrestling program will host one of its biggest events ever on Sunday, Nov. 6, when it opens its 2011-12 season with the Nor’Easter Duals. The Terriers will take on both Iowa State and Joe Heskett and the Black Knights of Army at Case Gym with hopes of attracting the largest college wrestling crowd in New England history.

Competition starts at 3 p.m. when the Black Knights take on Iowa State. Heskett’s squad will then wrestle BU at 5 p.m. Boston closes out the event against the Cyclones at 7 p.m.

The Terriers enter the 2011-12 campaign with arguably their best roster ever and are ranked as high as 26th in the nation in the preseason polls with three NCAA qualifiers returning in seniors John Hall (197) and Fred Santaite (133) and junior Hunter Meys (174). Perennial power Iowa State features nine ranked wrestlers on its roster and Army is always a tough opponent.

Scott Casber, host of the national wrestling show Takedown Radio, will serve as the public-address announcer for all three duals, which will be streamed live through Terrier TV on GoTerriers.com

Prior to the matches, the Terriers will host a wrestling clinic from 9:30-12:30. Head coach Carl Adams, who enters his 31st season at the helm of the BU program, has assembled a spectacular clinic staff that will feature Olympic goal-medalist Kevin Jackson and former NCAA champions such as Adams, Joe Heskett and Jonathan Reader. The six members of the staff combined to earn 18 NCAA All-America honors over the course of their careers.

Jackson is the head coach at Iowa State and Heskett heads up the Army program. Adams, Jackson and Heskett all wrestled collegiately at Iowa State.

This will be an opportunity for New England coaches, wrestlers and fans to be in one location to watch college wrestling at a high level in addition to learning strategy and technique from some of the best in the business.
Coaches and wrestlers can pre-register for the clinic online at CarlAdams.com. The pre-registration fee for coaches is $45 ($50 at the door) and the fee for students is $40 ($45 at the door). Any team bringing 10 or more students will be charged a group rate of $35 per person.
