If Robert Guerrero is as good in the ring against Floyd Mayweather as he is in making the case that he should be next, then the fight has potential.
Guerrero (29-1-1, 18 KOs), who had partially tore the rotator cuff in his left shoulder ten days before a August 27th showdown with WBA jr welterweight champion Marcos Maidana, is fast approaching full fitness and will be ready to fight as early as March.

“It would be easy for me to fight as a welterweight without having to change my body,” Guerrero explained to FightNews. “My weight right now is 152 and I’m in great shape. Having to cut down to make weight’s no good for anybody. I’ve gotten stronger as I’ve moved up in weight. I’m a legit 5′ 9″ and I’ve got long arms.”
But Mayweather says he wants to fight Manny Pacquiao.
“That’s the fight everyone wants to see and if it happens, it would be great for boxing, but I don’t think it’s going to happen in May,” Guerrero said. “If not Pacquaio, who else is there?”
Amir Khan?
“He and his people say they want that fight near the end of the year, after a tune-up at welterweight.”
