PHILADELPHIA (October 10, 2008)—This Saturday night, one of the most anticipated bout of the year happens when IBF Light Heavyweight, Antonio Tarver defends against Chad Dawson in a showdown that has been building for more then a year.
Dawson, 26-0 with seventeen knockouts was the WBC Light Heavyweight champion until he was stripped of the belt in order to participate in this showdown, will be wearing boxing’s latest innovation.
Dawson will be wearing the CovGlove. The CovGlove is a leather sleeve that is placed over the tape and secures the tape from coming loose and interrupting the action in the ring.
CovGlove has been worn in some of the highest profile fights in the recent months.
Joshua Clottey wore the CovGlove in his IBF Welterweight title winning effort over Zab Judah this past August.
Both Alfredo Angulo & Andrey Tsurkan wore the product when the squared off Last Saturday in their Jr. Welterweight affair.
“After the Clottey fight, my phone has been ringing off the hook from fighters and promoters who want to use the product” said CovGlove founder David Price.
“I want to thank Dawson for wearing the CovGlove in this great fight as well as Angulo who wore the CovGlove last weekend. It means a lot when Gary Shaw, who was a long time commission member and regulator of the sport gives his approval for the CovGlove.
I also want to thank Tsurkan & his promoter (Star Boxing’s) Joe DeGuardia for their support of the CovGlove for that great event.”
