THE BOSTON LEAGUE OF WOMEN WRESTLERS
BY: Rich Bergeron
Fight News Unlimited recently caught up with a group of crazy looking characters at the Untamed 10 MMA show in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Calling themselves the Boston League of Women Wrestlers (BLOWW), this wild bunch definitely stood out in their fancy getups and outrageous costumes.
The whole concept they represent is a marriage of Rock N’ Roll and wrestling. They have live bands playing at their shows, and they provide a high charged and comical aspect at the same time for all their fans.
It was hard to keep a straight faced when the tall, skinny referee of the group looked out from behind his shop class Coke bottle goggles and said with a straight face, “We’re not trying to make fun of wrestling.”
Vinnie Benedetto is a lucky man. His referee role keeps him surrounded by ladies who toss each other around and enjoy flaunting their excellent physical conditioning. Rubbing his fake mustache and laughing with his lady friends, Bendetto proclaimed, “The chicks love the stash.” The women around him agreed, and he later explained that when he gets out of his referee outfit and mingles among the crowd after the show is over, he is hardly ever recognized.
Sophie Suture wears a sexy nurse outfit and what looks like a cheap, pleather BLOWW Championship belt. “It’s the most dangerous fun I’ve ever had in my life,” she said about her participation in the league. The beautiful short blonde even put on a brief impromptu performance with another BLOWW gal after most of the crowd had left the building after Untamed 10 was over.
“I like hitting someone’s face down on the mat,” she said. “I like a good impact.” She has a few special moves she mentioned called “anasthetic” and the “bulldog” submission hold.
“I like how loud it is,” she added. “It’s always really loud like a big rock show.”
Keeping to their characters, the whole troupe took a moment to talk with Fight News Unlimited and pose for pictures. Cheerleader Muffy Winters, Pixie Tinkerhell, Flight Attendant Malicious Mile Heidi, Ninja Ho, Groupie Susi Skrew, Pirate Cap N’ Hook ‘er, The Wrathalie, Guzzlie Locks, Announcer Nash DeVille, Willy Wanka, and Ring Boy Dirk Martins all joined Benedetto and Suture for the shoot.
