Rob Koll Expects Big Home Crowd Vs. Lehigh, Talks Dake, Bosak with Takedown

Kyle Dake has won the EIWA wrestler of the week based on his incredible performance. What else is new?  Kyle Dake won the individual title at 157 pounds at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational this weekend. The two-time NCAA champion defeated Nebraska-Kearney’s TJ Hepburn, 4-0, in the championship bout. Steve Bosak (184) andFrank Perrelli (125) took second in their respective weight classes. Sophomore Mike Nevinger also placed, finishing eighth at 141 pounds.

Dake won his first match of the day, 7-1, over the No. 4 seed, Steven Monk, of North Dakota State. In the finals, Dake won the championship over the No. 7 seed, Hepburn, who won by default in the quarterfinals over the second seed, Walter Peppelman of Harvard.

At 125 pounds, Perrelli defeated Ohio State’s Johnni DiJulius, 5-2 to advance to the finals. In the championship bout, he was edged out by Kent State’s Nicholas Bedelyon, 3-1.

Bosak defeated fourth seeded Jacob Swartz, 2-1, in the semifinals at 184 pounds. He placed second after dropping a 7-3 decision to the No. 2 seed, Wyoming’s Joe LeBlanc, in the finals.

At 141 pounds, Nevinger defeated the No. 5 seed, Dalton Jensen of Nebraska-Kearney, 4-2 in the wrestle backs to the open the day. He then faced returning NCAA champion Kellen Russell of Michigan. Russell won a 7-1 decision. Nevinger placed eighth after losing a 7-2 decision to North Carolina’s Evan Henderson.

Cornell will break for the winter holidays, and will return to action after the new year at the Southern Scuffle, Jan. 1-2.
