MIKE JONES vs. LUCIANO PEREZ TOPS TELEFUTURA BOXING CARD DEC. 5 AT SOVEREIGN CENTER IN READING, PA

Reading, PA—Mike Jones, the hard-hitting welterweight prospect from Philadelphia, PA, and Luciano Perez, the steel-chinned brawler from Chicago, IL, collide in the 10-round main event which brings pro boxing back to the The Reading Theater at the Sovereign Events Center, 700 Penn Street, on Friday evening, Dec. 5.

The Jones-Perez match, as well as the scheduled eight-round junior welterweight semifinal featuring unbeaten 2004 U.S. Olympian Rock Allen, of Philadelphia, PA, will be televised live by Telefutura/Univision on its popular Solo Boxeo series, beginning at 8pm EST.

First of seven live fights begins at 7:15 pm.

Jones, 25, has won all 15 pro bouts, 13 by knockout. In his last fight Aug. 29 at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia, PA, Jones K0d Juliano Ramos, of Sao Paulo, Brazil, in six rounds to win the vacant North American Boxing Association (NABA) welterweight title.

Currently ranked No. 12 by the World Boxing Association (WBA), Jones also earned a pair of eight-round decisions this year over Germaine Sanders, of Chicago, IL, and Gilbert Venegas, of Molina, IL.

This will be Jones’ fifth fight away from Philadelphia, PA, since turning pro three years ago in 2006. He has boxed in Spokane, WA, Las Vegas, NV, Niagara Falls, NY, and Salamanca, NY.

Perez, 30, has fought some of the best welterweights around. His 16-8-1 record includes 14 knockouts, including a second-round K0 over Devin Lopez, of Hammond, IN, on Sept. 19 in Cicero, IL.

Last year Perez dropped a 10-round majority decision to former World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir, of Santa Fe, Argentina. He also has boxed Carlos Molina, Richard Gutierrez, Jesus Soto-Karass and Alfonso Gomez.

Perez has wins over Francisco Rincon and Carson Jones.

Several promising fighters from Reading, PA, will appear, including junior welterweight Jason Cintron, featherweight Lucian Gonzalez, cruiserweight Julio Cesar Matthews and junior lightweight Esteban Rodriguez.
