Steele Cage Promotions 7/7/07 MMA Event Makes Big Splash:
Eastman vs. Kimmons Title Fight Candidate for 2007 Fight of the Year

—————————————————————————————-

Las Vegas, Nevada – July 10, 2007 – Hall of Fame Boxing Referee Richard Steele and Steve Oshins, co-owners of Steele Cage Promotions, LLC (www.steelecage.com) and the International Fighting Organization, LLC (IFO), are pleased to announce the success of their long anticipated Fireworks in the Cage mixed martial arts promotion held on July 7, 2007 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The ten-card bout featured three IFO world title fights. Steele and Oshins wish to give a special thanks to Vice President John “Ski” Stachofsky and Chief Operating Officer Jeff Zimmerman for helping make this event such a success. “Without them and the rest of our team, we wouldn’t be where we are today,” stated Richard Steele. “We also wish to thank our Platinum Sponsor, VegasFuel Energy Drink, for the support they have given us,” Steele continued.

1. Marvin “The Beastman” Eastman (14-7-1) vs. Rob “The Rosedale Reaper” Kimmons (17-3) – This fight for the IFO Middleweight Championship was the main event and more than lived up to all the pre-fight hype. From the time the first punch was thrown to the final bell, the enthusiastic crowd yelled as each fighter took turns striking the other with the sound of the blows penetrating the entire arena. Eastman got the better of Kimmons as Kimmons at times smiled at Eastman after taking a blow to the head. This candidate for MMA fight of the year answered the question about Eastman’s ability to come down in weight from 205 to 185 as he was in the best shape of his career. Kimmons proved to be a game fighter with a chin of granite as Eastman landed many big shots to his chin. Kimmons hit Eastman with some bombs as well. The fighters went toe to toe many times with Kimmons landing the better shots during many of their scuffles and proving that he is one of the toughest fighters in the world. Result: Eastman by Unanimous Decision

2. Chris Guillen (35-7) vs. Wes “The Project” Sims (19-10-1) – This fight for the IFO Heavyweight Championship was a rematch of the fighters’ match on May 11, 2007 at the Art of War 2. In that three-round fight, Guillen went in as a heavy underdog to former UFC fighter Sims, yet he was able to neutralize the 6’10” Sims’ reach advantage by taking the fight to the mat. In the Art of War 2 fight, Guillen won a three-round decision. Guillen and Sims went at it again in this rematch, this time with a title on the line. Guillen proved that the first fight wasn’t a fluke as he was again able to beat Sims, this time by wearing down Sims as the exhausted Sims was unable to continue after the second round. Guillen proved that he is a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division. Result: Guillen by TKO (Corner Stoppage)

3. Eric Payne (21-6) vs. Brandon Shelton (15-2) – This fight for the IFO Featherweight Championship pitted two fighters, both incredible grapplers, against each other in a matchup that was thrilling from start to finish. Payne’s amazing jiu-jitsu skills were on display against Shelton and his nearly unmatched wrestling skills as evidenced by his 197-3 high school wrestling record. Payne and Shelton put on one of the most exciting displays of technical expertise as the crowd was on the edge of their seats as the two fighters fought most of the fight on the ground. Although Shelton was able to throw Payne with two perfectly executed judo throws, Payne eventually got the upper hand and forced Shelton to submit. The crowd applauded them as both fighters earned the respect of the audience. Result: Payne by Submission.
