OREM, Utah – Air Force junior Cole VonOhlen (Jackson, Minn.) has been named the Western Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week, as announced today by the league. It marks the second time this season and seventh time in his career that VonOhlen has been awarded the honor.
VonOhlen led the Falcons with a 4-0 record at the Lone Star Duals on Saturday, registering a fall, a technical fall and a pair of decisions. Among his wins was an 11-5 decision over Harvard’s previously undefeated Corey Jantzen, currently ranked seventh in the nation by InterMatWrestle.com.
VonOhlen, who is currently ranked third in the nation at 149 pounds, now holds a 22-2 record on the season and needs just three more wins to reach 100 for his career.
The Falcons open their home slate this Thursday, Jan. 19, when they host conference foe Utah Valley in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
