“NUMBER ONE/NUMERO UNO”

GO ON SALE TODAY!

LOS ANGELES, MAY 22 – On March 8, 1971, Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali engaged in the “Fight of The Century”, a 15 round war that will forever be remembered in the annals of boxing history. On July 18th, Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez will do their best to create their own “Fight of The Century” for the new millennium. While the talent, determination and high stakes are all in place, there are even more parallels, as we can trace Mayweather and Marquez to Frazier and Ali.

How, you might ask?

Floyd Mayweather fought Oscar De La Hoya, who fought Hector Camacho, who fought Sugar Ray Leonard, who fought Thomas Hearns, who fought Iran Barkley, who fought Trevor Berbick, who fought Larry Holmes, who fought Muhammad Ali, who fought Joe Frazier.

Juan Manuel Marquez fought Manny Pacquiao, who fought Oscar De La Hoya, who fought Bernard Hopkins, who fought Roy Jones Jr., who fought John Ruiz, who fought Evander Holyfield, who fought Mike Tyson, who fought Larry Holmes, who fought Muhammad Ali.

Nine degrees of separation…or the precursor to a historic night?
