Jones-Lacy headlines Aug. 15 “Hook City” PPV in Biloxi

BILOXI, Miss. (August 4, 2009) – South American champion Julio Cesar “La Furia” Dominguez has been dreaming about knocking out 2-time world champion Danny “Green Machine” Green in their “Hook City” co-feature, August 15 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.

The “Hook City” pay-per-view show, headlined by two of the best left-hook punchers in boxing, 8-time world boxing champion Roy “Captain Hook” Jones, Jr. (53-5, 39 KOs) and former 2-time super middleweight title-holder Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy (25-2, 17 KOs, is presented by Square Ring Promotions in association with Left Hook Promotions and Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.

“Hook City” is being distributed by Square Ring Promotions, Inc. at 9:00PM ET/6:00PM PT in the United States on cable and satellite via iNDemand, TVN, DirecTV and Dish Network for a suggested retail price of $34.95, as well as on Super Channel in Canada.

Like so many South American fighters, Dominguez (20-4-1, 14 KOs) is a dangerous banger who’ll be making his U.S. debut against Australian import Green (26-3, 23 KOs), rated No. 5 by the WBA, in the 12-round co-feature for the vacant IBO cruiserweight championship.

“I am working hard as usual,” Dominguez said from training camp in South America. “This will be the most important fight of my career, so far, and I want to take full advantage of this opportunity. It is a great honor to be part of the Roy Jones show and it would be even greater if I could fight him myself.

“I have lots of respect for the man (Green) because he is a great former world champion. For the past little while, I have been analyzing his videos to learn more about his style, and I have been having recurrent dreams where I defeat him by KO. I don’t have a very versatile style, although I always feel confident that my punches really get to my opponents, so much so that they end up flat on the floor. American boxing fans can expect to see a savage boxer hungry for glory. You can be sure I will be throwing a flurry of punches until my opponent goes down.”

Jones defends his NABO light heavyweight crown in the 12-round main event versus Lacy. Also scheduled to fight on the PPV telecast is undefeated NABO cruiserweight champion BJ “El Peligroso” Flores (23-0-1, 14 KOs) against an opponent to be determined, in addition to lightweight prospect Verquan “The Show” Kimbrough (21-1-2, 7 KOs) facing Jason “American Boy” Litzau (24-2, 20 KOs), former world title challenger, in a 10-round Special Attraction. All bouts are subject to change.
