FEEL THE PAIN FIGHTING SYSTEMS MMA TRAINING CENTER
GRAND OPENING SET FOR AUGUST 11TH @ 9:00 A.M.
Borne out of Feel The Pain Fight Gear (www.feelthepainfightgear.com), Feel The Pain Fighting Systems (www.ftpfightingsystems.com) offers a whole new outlook on mixed martial arts. The all-new FTP Fighting Systems training center based in Pittsburgh, PA is the first step in bringing Sensei Khristian “The Sandman” Geraci’s unique MMA Black Belt program across the nation and the world. The center will hold a grand opening ceremony on Saturday, August 11th starting at 9:00 A.M. and featuring a chance to participate in seminars and meet some professional mixed martial artists.
Greg and Kim Peverill started Feel The Pain Fight Gear after watching MMA fights for years and wanting to play a more significant role in the sport. The company launched its Web-site in early 2007, and today Feel The Pain Fight Gear is a complete success. The couple’s concept has produced healthy product sales and allowed them to sponsor about 20 up-and-coming fighters in the sport. Looking for how to kick it up a notch, they met Khristian Geraci by chance, and Feel The Pain Fighting Systems blossomed out of that first connection.
“We met on a happenstance,” said Geraci about their first meeting in Richmond, Virginia. “My cornerman got stuck in New York, and I needed a cornerman.” Peverill volunteered and found himself closer to the action than ever. It was an unforgettable experience.
“It was the first time I’ve ever done that, the first time I’ve ever been that close to the ring and seen the fight that close,” said Greg, “That was cool, I totally enjoyed that.”
“If it didn’t happen, Feel The Pain Fighting Systems would have been a thought and a dream,” recalls Greg about the day he connected with Geraci. “Instead of a dream now it’s a reality.”
The ultimate goal for the Peverills and Geraci is to see the whole concept spread across the country. “I’d love to see feel the pain fighting systems go nationwide,” said Greg. He plans to start on the East Coast, move into the Cleveland area and then out West.
At the center of the training center’s unique approach is the unprecedented and original MMA Black Belt program. Sensei Geraci developed his own MMA Black Belt program over the course of 11 years. He’s been fighting for over 26 years now and came across a plethora of styles he built into the program. “The sport’s evolved to a point where one style no longer works. You have to be well-rounded. You have to train in all aspects of the game,” Geraci explained. “I started experimenting with other systems, taking what was good, and throwing out what was bad. Anything you can think of you’ll find in my program if it works in the ring.”
Geraci hopes that his black belt program will spread to other schools and across the industry. “I honestly see Feel The Pain Fighting Systems becoming one of the most well known names in Mixed Martial Arts,” he said.
Above and beyond the class offerings the training center will provide, Geraci’s incredible character stands out as one of the most important aspects of Feel The Pain Fighting Systems. “I think the reason Greg, Kim and I get along so well is that we’re not like most companies. We’re not out there just to make money. For me, personally, the money is the last of the issues,” said Geraci. “I want to see the sport grow. I care very much for my students and my fighters. I spend a lot of my time working with them, giving them individual attention. I want to make sure when I’m teaching classes everyone’s learning, everyone’s getting better, and no one’s falling behind. If I gotta stay past closing time, if I gotta come in on Sunday, I’ll do whatever it takes to help my students out.”
With the center already open for select students, Geraci even taught class on his birthday recently.
“We’re very impressed with Khristian, his work ethic, and just in general he’s a good person. He’s got a good heart and a good head on his shoulders,” said Peverill about Geraci.
Peverill also mentioned that the gym might be opening its doors to some inner city kids as part of a community outreach program. In a mentor role, Geraci will no doubt be able to steer plenty of under privileged kids in the right direction
The school has already attracted some phenomenal pro-fighters who will be battling under the FTP Fighting Systems banner. Alan Stryker Stamp, Dan Karnbauer, David Sachs, Nikki Domer and Johana Skonezny are all in the mix already.
The facility itself offers 1,200 square feet of grappling mat, a striking area, a private training facility, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a full size pro shop, in-house supplement sales, and specialists coming in to help in different areas of the martial arts. The center is located at 734 Brookline Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15226.
Saturday’s grand opening schedule will include seminars, demonstrations, pro fighters going through workouts, a meet and greet period, and a chance for all interested students to learn more about what the sport of MMA entails. Participants in the day’s events can also get $50 off gym membership and are eligible for free giveaways from FTP Fight Gear.
