Former baseball and football star to be part of Public Safety Night at The Legendary Blue Horizon

PHILADELPHIA (September 7, 2009)—This Friday night at The Legendary Blue Horizon, Former New York Yankee and Florida Gator football player Richard Brown will be in action as part of a big eleven bout card that will be broadcast around the world on www.gofightlive.tv

The card is promoted by Vernoca L. Michael and Blue Horizon Boxing Promotions Inc.

This will be part of Public Safety Night where Police Officers, Fire Fighters and security personnel will be honored for their work in the community.

Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida has a record of 4-0 with two knockouts and is looking to get back in the win column after nearly a three year hiatus from the ring.

Brown was drafted in the 2nd round by the Yankees out of Ridgewood, New Jersey in the 1995 draft. Brown played six years in the minors before being called up in 2001. He spent thirty-three days on the big league roster before hurting his shoulder.

The thirty-two year old picked up boxing while in Fort Lauderdale when he struck up a friendship with former heavyweight title-challenger Razor Ruddock.

After his baseball career was over, Brown spent four years at the University of Florida.

Brown then hooked up with esteemed trainer Roger Bloodworth and started his pro career immediately.

Brown started his pro career July 7, 2006 with a first round knockout over Joel Blackburn in Phoenix. Since then, Brown has appeared on cards featuring Joel Casamayor and on the undercard of the IBF Welterweight title fight between Kermit Cintron and Mark Suarez.

Even when Brown was playing other sports, he was always an avid boxing fan as he lists Pernell Whitaker, Bernard Hopkins and Evander Holyfield as his influences.

Brown will be taking on Shawn McLean (3-4, 2 KO’s) of New York in a four round bout.

This fight will be part of 10 big fights that will feature in the main event Jr. Welterweight Steve Upsher Chambers (19-1-1, 5 KO’s) of Philadelphia takes on Aaron Drake

In an intriguing six round Jr. Featherweight bout, Joselito Collado (8-0, 2 KO’s) of Queens, NY battles local favorite Jules Blackwell (8-2-2, 3 KO’s) of Phoenixville, PA

Phillip McCants (7-1-1, 3 KO’s) of Philadelphia tries to shake off three years worth of rust when he battles unbeaten prospect Glenn Tapia (3-0, 2 KO’s) of Passaic, New Jersey.

In a six round Lightweight bout, Isaac Suarez (7-0, 2 KO’s) of Lancaster, PA battles Mondre Pope, (1-0-1) of Virginia.

Former NHL tough guy, Nathan Perrott will be making his pro debut against Makidi Ku-Tima (1-0, 1 KO) in a four round Heavyweight bout

Joe Alonzo of Philadelphia will be making his pro debut against William “The School Teacher” Brown (4-3, 2 KO’s) in a four round Welterweight bout.

Popular ladies welterweight, Jackie Davis (2-0, 1 KO) will take on Victoria Cisneros (3-6-2) of Albuquerque, New Mexico in a ladies Welterweight bout

Filipino, Jason Sia makes his pro debut against Deroy Beaton in a four round Jr. Welterweight bout.

Darrell Jones (1-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia will take on an opponent to be named.
