WBA and WBC supermiddle champ Mikkel Kessler began the training today at the CIK Gym in Copenhagen with six rounds of sparring with stablemate Lolenga Mock. Kessler will now do the heavy physical preparations in his new home in Monaco and then return to Copenhagen for sparring September 17.

Herbie Hide, down to cruiser and based in Hamburg with Arena Box Promotion, is the official challenger for EU champ Giacobbe Fragomeni.

Cruisers Dirk Mandelarz and Max Gusset clash for the GBC bauble August 25 in Aachen on a Pound4Pound Promotion.

The most beat up man at ringside in Berlin Saturday night at the Abraham vs Gevor show was not any of fighters but Belgian promoter Alain Vanackere, who explained it was the result of a car accident a few weeks earlier. Alain´s EuroBoxe Promotion stage their first show of the season in Soumagne with supermiddle Michel Henrotin and heavies Geoffrey Batello and Richel Hersisia on the bill. In regards of heavyweight Oleg Platov, who is managed by Vanackere, he is in the line to fight for the vacant EE-EU title against Russian Denis Bakhtov.

WBA, WBC and GBU female bantam champ Anita Christensen will defend the titles against Gabriela Garino September 14 in Horsens. Female jr welter Vinni Skovgaard is also on for the bill that is headlined by Johny Jensen vs Louis Del Valle in a WBA I/C titlefight at cruiser.

Bantams Karim Quibir and Eugen Sorin Tanasie clash for the vacant EU title September 28 in Valencia, Spain

Namibian lightweight Paulus Moses impressed viewers all over Europe last night when he in Donetsk stopped Ukrainian Andrei Kudriaytsev in the ninth round of a WBA I/C titlefight. Moses was on top in most of the rounds but the strong Kudriaytsev kept trying and had a few good rounds. Moses got in full control in the eighth and stepped up the pace in the ninth scoring three knockdowns and it was stopped.

EBU middle champ Sebastian Sylvester is likely to make a voluntary defence of the title October 27 possibly against Italian Simone Rotolo. It´s also rumored that a IBF eliminator at heavyweight between Chris Byrd and Alexander Povetkin will end up on this show. Chris Meyer, CEO for Sauerland Event, confirms they have a TV date Oct 27 but that nothing else is set, he does confirm negotiations with the Byrd camp though.

WBA, WIBF and GBU female supermiddle Natascha Ragosina is looking to add the WIBA title to her collection September 8 in Berlin when she square off against Kenyan Conjestina Achieng. There´s another female titlefight on this SES promotion as Oksana Vasilyeva and Fatuma Zarika clash for the vacant WIBF crown. Wiking Box Team promotes a show at the Universal Hall in Berlin September 2. Headlining the bill are lightheavies Denis Simcic and Kavin Gebhart in a fight for the Int´l German title. Comebacking heavy Aleksander Jakob square off against Latvian Edgar Kalnars. At lightweight Johnny Ibramov, from Uzbekistan but now with Wking, face decent Berliner Muzaffer Tosun. Cubans Yuriorkis Gamboa and Yan Barthelemy are on for the show but it is noteworthy that both heavies Odlanier Solis and Pedro Carrion are off the bill.

The Swedish Pro Boxing Commission suprisingly withdrew its application to the Martial Arts Delegation for the planned Aldo Colliander vs Robert Daniels fight September 15 in Karlstad to be staged over six three minute rounds. As to why the commission did what they did is an open question. Previously only fights over 4×3 or 6×2 with max distance 12 minutes have been allowed in Sweden. A 6×3 fight would – it was hoped – have opened the doors for “real” proboxing. MAD was quite critical towards the commission for the way they handled the show in Gothenburg March 31 and that may have played a part.

Italians Daniele Petrucci and Antonio Lauri are co-challengers for the vacant EU welterweight title.
