Important Title fight highlights Power Productions 10th anniversary show
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PHILADELPHIA- (October 5, 2009)—On Friday night October 16th, at the Legendary Blue Horizon, it will be a very special night for several reasons as Greg Robinson’s Power Productions celebrates its tenth anniversary with a fight with major implications as Derek “Pooh” Ennis battles Eromosle Albert for the vacant USBA Jr. Middleweight title.
Ennis of Philadelphia has a record 18-2-1 with twelve wins coming by knockout. Ennis has been longing for this opportunity as he quietly has been climbing the ladder by racking up six consecutive wins which includes his latest outing being a six round unanimous decision over John Mackey on July 10th in a nationally televised contest by ESPN 2 at The Arena in Philadelphia.
In that bout, Ennis scored two knockdowns en route to the victory over the game visitor from Alabama. Ennis was undefeated in his first eleven bouts (10-0-1) before a knockout loss to Allen Conyers on Showtime.
Albert has been in with the biggest names in boxing and the native of Nigeria is a two-time Olympian.
He has a record of 22-3-1 with ten knockouts.
The Impressive resume has some of the top Jr. Middleweights in the world such as a win over former world champion Yory Boy Campas, top contender Daniel Edouard, a loss to top contender James Kirkland and a draw with tough Ossie Duran.
The winner of the bout will not only receive the prestigious USBA belt but receive a ranking by the IBF which would put the winner in line for a future crack at the world title that is currently held by Cory Spinks.
The co-feature for this exciting night of boxing will feature Tyric “Too Sweet” Robinson as he will take on the vastly popular Victor Vasquez in a six round Jr. Welterweight bout.
Robinson of North Philadelphia has a record of 9-4-1 with three knockouts and is looking to get back into the win column after suffering two disappointing losses to then undefeated Jason Cintron and most recently to Julias Edmonds back on April 3rd at The Legendary Blue Horizon.
This will be Robinson’s eighth appearance at the Legendary Blue Horizon (3-4, 1 KO).
Like Robinson, Vasquez is from Philadelphia and has built up a strong following and has amassed a record of 9-3 with five knockouts.
He has endeared himself to the fans with his blood and guts style that has produced some of the best fights in Philadelphia boxing recent history.
One of those fights was two bouts ago when he and Rod Salk waged war over six rounds before Salka won a unanimous decision. In his last bout, Vasquez took a six round unanimous decision from Linwood Hurd at The Legendary Blue Horizon on May 1st.
This will be Vasquez third straight appearance at the Blue (1-1).
In a six round Jr. Lightweight bout, undefeated Coy Evans (4-0-1) of Philadelphia will battle an opponent to be announced in a six round bout.
Popular Tommie “Big Poppa” Speller (4-2, 3 KO’s) of Philadelphia will take on Dameon Marshall (1-2) of New York in a four round Light Heavyweight tussle.
Undefeated heavyweight, John Mercurio (2-0, 2 KO’s) of Philadelphia battles James Pratt (2-6, 2 KO’s) of Charlotte, NC
Derrick Webster (2-0, 1 KO) of nearby Glassboro, NJ will fight an opponent to be announced in a four round middleweight bout.
Alando Swaine of Philadelphia will make his pro debut against Maurice Williams (1-5, 1KO) in a battle of Philadelphia based middleweights
Impressive looking Mario Mina of Brooklyn, NY via Ecuador returns to The Legendary Blue Horizon to take on James Denson (4-5, 2 KO’s) of Akron, Ohio.
The special 10th anniversary show will feature a special awards ceremony as well as a video highlighting the best fights from the ten years of Power Productions.
