44-year old German heavy Andreas Sidon have been stripped of the national title. The German Federation, the BDB, following his 47-second blowout by Odlanier Solis. Official challenger is another Arena boxer, Konstantin Airich. Arena had planned for Sidon vs Airich September 21 in Luebeck but that is off now.
Dane Robert Larsen have been given a temporary promoter´s license by the Danish Federation. Larsen, who manages Robert Osiobe and Rachid Idrissi, plans to stage a pro/am show on the outskirts of Copenhagen October 27.
French fly Brahim Asloum takes on Brazilian Wellington Vicente September 15 in Rostock, Germany, on the undercard to Veit vs Brahmer.
Arena Box Promotion have signed up heavyweight Edmund Gerber and supermiddle Sebastian Sonntag, both German champs in the amateurs. Both are from Schwerin and are trained by Karsten Roewer, who also joins Arena and will be headcoach along with Werner Kirsch. Roewer fought and lost to Henry Maske three times in what used to be East Germany.
Swedish heavy Mikael Lindblad have been to “Rocky´s Gym” in Duisburg, Germany, to spar with South African Miyan Solomons. Lindblad takes on Ray Mercer in a scheduled four-rounder September 15 in Karlstad, Sweden.
