There is more than racing in Indianapolis, Indiana. On Friday March 23, 2007 there was a showdown going down at the hoedown. The venue was the 8 Seconds Saloon on Indy’s Westside. The Legends of Fighting Championship put on an action-packed Mixed Martial Arts cage fight. The night was filled with explosive knockouts and great submissions. LFC featured 4 amateur bouts and 11 professional fights. Promoter Scott McCorkle brought in some very skilled fighters for this show. With many great fights and lots of cold beer, this was a night to remember.

The audience was pumped from the first fight of the night. Everyone was waiting anxiously for the pro bouts to start. The professional bout that got the fans on their feet was a Super Heavyweight Bout between Leo Sylvest and Tiny Norton. Sylvest was a hometown favorite; people were screaming and chanting Leo throughout all 3 rounds of the fight. Norton, also fighting in front of many of his hometown fans, pushed the pace of the fight all 3 rounds. The fight never went to the ground; all 3 rounds featured these two warriors battling it out with explosive strikes to the face. The fight ended with both fighters bleeding and hugging at the end of the 3 rounds. The fight was a split decision with Sylvest winning. The fight could have gone either way in many fans’ eyes. There was lots of cheering and booing going on throughout the thousands of fans.

The Co-Main Events of the evening featured Zach Jenkins defending his LFC 135 pound championship belt against Tom Osbourne and 2 time UFC veteran Chris Price fighting Shane Lightle. Both fighters were fighting out of Damage Incorporated, located in Indianapolis, IN and managed by McCorkle. Jenkins won in the second round and retained his belt. The final fight of the evening went all Price’s way with Price winning in the very first round by strikes on the ground. Serving in the Marines during the current war, Price took the microphone after winning and wanted to remember his 19 good friends that were in his battalion that lost their lives in battle on one certain day a few years ago.

Price began fighting after leaving the Marines. He actually went to a small show and came in contact with McCorkle. McCorkle met with Price the following week and signed him to a contract with Damage Incorporated out of Indianapolis. Price started training full time and living out of the fighters’ house that Damage Incorporated owned. Damage Incorporated provided various supplements to their fighters at no charge and also provided a state of the art gym to train in. Price, who has lost both of his UFC fights, is ready to make it back to the big show and showcase his skills for everyone.

The event had many great fighters in attendance. One very special guest in the audience was UFC fighter Jake O’Brien. O’Brien, fighting in the heavyweight division of the UFC, is currently undefeated and 3-0 in the UFC. O’Brien is coming off a 3-round decision win over Heath Herring on Spike TV and is ready to start his quest towards winning the belt.

The night came to an end with all the fights ending in stunning fashion. With great looking ring girls, good cold beverages and loud music, the night went down as a success. There are many great LFC events coming up in Indiana; with fights being held in Lafayette, Plainfield, Ft. Wayne, Muncie and Indianapolis.
