FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 11, 2010, Team Kattar is proud to announce that Calvin Kattar has signed with the XCFL. Kattar (8-1) is one of the top lightweights in the East Coast and current NABC Champion. The red hot prospect has taken the MMA world by storm carrying a five fight winning streak as he takes on fellow up and coming fighter Taylor “King” Solomon (2-0) at the XCFL debut. This February 6th fight pits two top tier lightweights from the U.S. and Canada respectively, in what is sure to be fight of the night at the Best Western Event Center in Marlboro, MA.

Twenty-one year old Kattar, who fights out of Xtreme Fitness in Chelmsford, MA, has been in a league of his own as of late. He has finished 4 out of his last 5 opponents by TKO or Submission within the 1st round. “I’m really excited to sign on with the XCFL,” Kattar said. “The XCFL has already positioned itself to become the premiere MMA Promotion in the North East and I couldn’t be happier. Donny Mustapha [XCFL’s matchmaker and co-promoter] and Dave Diamond [XCFL’s co-promoter] are great guys that I know they are determined to make this promotion a success. ”

Kattar, who now lives in Andover, MA graduated from Methuen High School in 2006 and has trained in the art of MMA for the past 3 years. “2010’s going to be a big year for me,” says Kattar. I’m fully dedicating myself to my training and fighting. I really want to make a career out of this and won’t stop until I reach the top.” Calvin’s hard work and determination has already paid dividends in his community. He has just recently been recognized by the town of Methuen as a role model to young kids as well as an outstanding citizen receiving a proclamation by the Methuen City Council and the mayor of Methuen, Mr. William Manzi.

Calvin’s opponent, Taylor “King” Solomon, has been making quite the name for himself as well. Solomon, who hails from Ontario, Canada, boasts a professional MMA record of 2-0. Taylor has great talent and has yet to
be defeated in his young pro career, making this fight a must-win for both fighters. A win for Solomon at this event catapults him into the ranks of top 155 lb contenders in the North East.

Along with this much-anticipated fight, the XCFL will also have two title matches on the card. The main event of the evening will feature top prospect, Chris Grandmaison (9-4), taking on Dragon Lair’s Saul Almeida
(7-0) for the 145 lb Featherweight Title Belt. Grandmaison has won three of his past four fights while Almeida has yet to be defeated in his young career. Also on the card, the Co-Main Event of the evening will
pit Roger Brackett (5-1) vs. Alexandre Moreno (8-3) for the Light Heavyweight Title. Both fighters are eager for a shot at the belt and will leave it all in the cage for a chance at becoming the champ.
