We have all been made aware of the devastating earthquake that has recently shattered the social fabric of Haiti. Reports coming out of the country confirm that tens of thousands of people are either reported deceased or severely injured. Thousands are unaccounted for. Hospitals are without electricity. Schools and orphanages lay in ruins. Portions of my family and friends who still reside on the island have been and are continuing to be affected daily as virtually the entire country is without power, water, food and basic necessities. There is a lot to be done and a lot that is needed.

As a Haitian American and the current Vice President of the Haitian Boxing Federation I feel a deep sense of obligation to help immediately. We can all help. Governments around the world are extending aide to Haiti, still, it will be some time before a lot of the aide makes its way into certain parts of the country. I know these areas and I know the people that live in these areas. The entire country is need but in many areas, those typically undersupplied, the need will be great. This is where I intend to focus my efforts. I plan on doing everything I can to help including travelling to Haiti and working ground level in the assist efforts.

To do more I need your help. I have teamed up with two Haitian icons (legendary kompa singer Sweet Micky and international telecommunication company NoPIN) and have worked diligently with non-for-profit organization Grace for the Sharing to establish an account for donations with Wachovia Bank. To make a donation visit any Wachovia Bank and just tell them you want to donate to Grace for the Sharing’s account #2000019436252. Checks or other forms of donations can be forwarded to the following address:

Grace for the Sharing

931 Village Boulevard, Suite 905-379

West Palm Beach, FL 33409

Be assured that every donation will go directly towards relief efforts and your donations will not be constrained by administrative tasks that can sometimes delay or cause assistance to gradually trickle into certain regions.

I have established a team that will travel to Haiti in the next few days. We will travel into these areas taking as much assistance as possible. Candles, flashlights, bottled water, packaged food, feminine needs and medications are some of what we want to take into the city.

To assure the public of our commitment and success we will regular update our myspace accounts (www.myspace.com/hspboxing and www.myspace.com/officialhaitiansensation) and detail how each dollar is being spent. I will travel to Haiti within the next several days with my team and begin our assisting efforts. I hope that you join me in supplying relief to Haiti.
