Randy Couture has left the UFC
By: Jack Bratcher
It’s true……..as of today Randy Couture has resigned from the UFC…….giving up his heavyweight title and his commentator job for the company. This comes one day after it was announced Fedor Emelianenko did not sign with the UFC but instead with M-1. That was the fight that Randy was wanting since Fedor was considered #1 in the world and since obviously that fight could not be made to happen Randy saw no reason to stay in the game. Randy had two fights left on his contract so he’s not allowed to fight for any other organization. If he choosed to come out of retirement again he has to come back to the UFC.
Randy is currently in South Africa filming the sequel to the Scorpion King as the lead role. Randy’s acting career is in overdrive and he has a MMA gym franchise that is doing really well and opening up gyms all over the U.S. so he doesn’t need the money that fighting would bring but he does love the competition. Many people view Randy Couture as the greatest MMA fighter on the planet and it is with sad news that his fans will watch him leave. Many fans had hoped for the day that he would face Fedor Emelianenko in the Octagon to prove once and for all who was the absolute best martial arts fighter on the planet. It looks like that day may never happen.
Good luck Randy!!!
